Hyperwalk - omg why?

I don't disagree, but everyone has varying degrees of narcissism involved in their psychology, its just how we function.

if no one cared everyone would be using selfie sticks
people wouldn't buy overly priced apple crap for the name and everyone would be wearing no name clothes yet they don't

I think StriderX answered your post.

And people do buy selfie sticks and people do use windows or Android phones. I am sure you are one of those.

So by your own argument, you don't care what people think, i am sure up to a point.

So, really, your post supports my argument.

There is no way you could use that on the pavement, with people, kids, dogs and of course dog ****.

A cool idea, but the novelty would wear thin. Fast.

looks like it only goes 6mph most people probably walk about that anyway

it's basically an over priced skateboard or roller skates that go a fraction of the speed

Average walking speed is 3mph.

for old people and midgets

For a person with excellent fitness, an approximate moderate walking pace:

15 minutes per mile (4 miles per hour)
9 minutes per kilometre (6.4 kilometres per hour)

A fast walking pace or speed is:

12 minutes per mile (5 miles per hour)
7.5 minutes per kilometre (8 kilometres per hour)

An average walking pace on country and forestry footpaths is:

20 minutes per mile (3 miles per hour)
12 minutes per kilometre (5 kilometres per hour)

I wish I had a pound etc

I remember one mate who claimed a 10 minute mile while walking so had him on my treadmill and he just managed 16 minutes which wasn't actually that bad.
Another mate said "Start me on 5 mph" and nearly fell off the end.
Also for the average 'fit' person try keeping up 4 mph for any amount of miles.

Indeed. Humans are prone to hyperbole mainly from peer pressure and so exaggeration is often a factor. People usually over estimate their actual ability. I'm a quick walker, I like to stride, I estimate I walk a mile every 15 minutes which would be 4mph. I doubt I could keep that up though for say 5 miles or more.

these things arent designed for long distances? you jump on the tube or a bus.?

it's just for lazy people who can't be bothered to walk half a mile at a time etc

Yeah I had noticed lol. But I was replying to the other guy and not specifically to the topic at hand. :p

Do you ever consider that maybe there are people unable to walk half a mile at a normal pace or without great discomfort but don't consider themselves disabled enough to want the stigma of a mobility scooter or wheelchair? I'd defintely consider something like this to help my wife get around once the technology is mature enough that things like getting on/off them don't bring the risk falling.

I think by that time Exo-skeletal support will be less expensive.

I worked with a lovely bloke for years but every now & then I'd hear a BS walking story because of his height.
He was telling another colleague that he was able to walk to work in 6 minutes while living 0.8 miles away :D Behind a wall of monitors I was shaking my head when my colleague asked why I was disagreeing and I said it couldn't be done because he's claiming he can walk a mile in (quick calculation) 7.5 minutes. Well perhaps he can, how do you know he can't? Because he'd be in the Olympics.
