Hyundai i30N

Very nice looking car that is. But It just doesn't have the heritage of say a GTI or ST, Type R etc If u say you drive an I30N your just going to be met with a blank expression by most people. They could have come up with a better name for it lol. And at 25k yes it may be cheaper than a GTI but people will still go for the ST's, VXR's etc over the Hyundai at that price

The only reason it's a bargain is because the price of most hot hatches have gone through the roof. You could have a nice twin turbo manual supra for the price of that hyundai and it wouldnt be worth 50p in 3 years either :P.

O well on a brighter note at least they are trying to make an interesting car :D

Stinger gt and this in 5 years would make a good kdm bargain garage though. :)

yes but the trouble with it is, they'll go for the GTI because the Hyundai looks cheap and nasty, it looks like it's for the Indian market, a flipping KIA or something similar.

it looks good, but will depreciate like a stone off a cliff without the heritage of existing hot hatches. Also, could it be stung with higher insurance if it allows younger drivers the chance to afford one?

I don't think its that cheap, the normal power model is on par with the Focus ST for example. Dav4 is right, its priced about bang on to its rivals.

Also, residuals for Hyundai and Kia are not anywhere near as poor as people are making out.

25k is a LOT for that car. Look at what you can buy for that money. You'd be nuts to buy one new :/

Then in 3 years time it will be worth £5 and probably need a new clutch (every used Hyundai I've driven had a worn clutch lol, maybe I was just unlucky).

It should be commended that Hyundai are taking a punt with a hot hatch and that it's not terrible, at that.

However it's not where my theoretical £25k would go.

Why did Hyundai scrap the more recent Coupe? It seemed to sell reasonably well and the last gen was a decent looking sporty coupe it's just the crap slow engines let them down. More people would have been interested in a new Coupe with that 2.0T in and 250bhp. The market needs a 3 door sporty car for 25k ish as everyone is sick of all the new hot hatches only coming with 5 doors they just look the same as the tarted up diesel variants apart from the twin exhausts

vrx's and hondas are in no way better interior wise.

You're talking poop as per the usual with 0% experience.

Have many of the nay sayers in this thread actually sat in a new Kia or Hyundai, there's nothing to call between them inside than any Ford, Toyota or equivalent. Also their 2nd hand prices are just as strong as any of the other marques in the same end of the market.

It's just like people were about Skodas 10-15 years ago 'Lol skoda you're having a laugh mate! It'll be worth 20p and no one will ever get over the image!' and look at them now.

The Japs and Germans tend to use better quality plastics though, even if it does still look a bit cheap in places. They don't wear as quickly or damage as easily. The plastics in the Fiesta ST I had were like butter as well.

Not really, sit in any recent Korean car and you'll find out that it is screwed together just as good as Japanese or German cars. Super premium hatches will have better materials(a45 for e.g.). But even recent BMW's suck interior wise. Audi is the one that seems to do well even on the lower end.
