Hyundai i30N

is this the third brake light? looks good in a triangle shape.
yes i think so, the roof spoiler is quite large; but the rest of the car unlike the Type R is totally understated.............until of course you hear the exhaust in N Mode.

lol, good one

He'll just be annoying his local dealer for the next 6 months talking about buying one and visiting every weekend and then purchase a £500 Kia Picanto or something.

LOL........... i dont think the Hyundai dealers care much about the car because it hasn't moved in 3 days, it's just sitting there getting covered in concrete dust from all the building work going on.............but they're much busier than Hondas though !

the I30N is based on this below :-
http://brand.hyundai.com/en/n/concepts/rn30.do

but there is a rumour that this RN30 might be coming out too, all i know is there are supposed to be two more``Ns`` being released soon and one of these will be the i20N............ This RN30 looks awesome, but my guess is they wont do anything until they see how well the i30N does and it'll probably be tamed down as well..............lets hope it isn't, after all, Honda dont care what their cars look like so why should Hyundai !!!

it's interesting to note that the Yanks love the Type R much more than we do.............uuumm

I wouldn't ban him but rather tell him to start his own thread for his musings rather than spam every other thread full of it. Actually that's a good idea, @Mal X why not start your own thread where you can discuss any car you want at length, keep everyone happy :)

actually this is my thread who opened it ? and you cant ban someone for posting in on other threads (which every member does) unless he starts insulting others of course.
as for opening a ``Mal X and his fantasy car thread``......you'd have to let the thread get trolled without deleting it, because it definitely will.

I' l to see it in other colours other than the light blue. A dark red or electric blue would be a nice thing to see.

yes the chalky blue looks wrong, it makes the car look slow, but it looks good on their rally cars because of all the stripes and stickers.

Mal X do you have a car at the moment and are looking to change or is this just like an information thread for this model?

no i'm keeping my car, i'll have two cars, this thread is for information only because there is no other i30n thread here

I'd call it "Mal's musings" or something. And I was being genuine about my suggestion, I think it'd be great for you to have your own space to think out loud without everyone else jumping all over you. Those who want to engage can, and those who don't can stay out.

A bit like Acme's thread :)

oh i'm not cross m8, i think it's a good idea.......... i attract trouble wherever i go i apologise for that........ i wear my heart on my sleeve, i'm always in trouble either here or at work, i'm outspoken and i'm not a good poster at all, everyone misunderstands me...........i'm used to it now !

What car do you have currently?

i am the proud owner of a Jazz and that wont be going, in fact we have two of them now !
the Jazz is ok until i fancy a good hard drive, because then it becomes very dangerous.

i've had slow cars for years because i lost interest when i was in my mid thirties, i only rekindled my interest when i joined here to upgrade my PC for gaming and of course i noticed this section............ ``i'm jealous of these guys, they've got what i once had``.

i was never into track cars though, my passion was Drag racing at Blackbushe airport, just a sad memory now.

To be honest, I have a passion for old and interesting cars, but I don't really have a passion for working on them. Which is a problem. :p

yes one of the problems i have, is as you get older you cant work on them like you once could......... the back wont take the bending over any more or crawling underneath.

Not sure if I'm right but the few times I've been there is always interesting stuff there.

A lot of cars can surprise you with their performance and it's just a nice day out. I think it's much better then watching countless YouTube videos or looking at adverts online and to then make an assumption of what a car is like.

Plus it's good to ask those who own them what their experiences are like with their cars and such. Much different to how it is in person to what it is online.

Just my 2p m8.

yes i remember all of that from Blackbushe, the trouble with Youtube is, you dont see all the cars that are there that day and you dont get the true buzz of the occasion.

Just looks very meh. I thought the Golf R was bland, but this one goes one step further. Thank god we have the mighty CTR to keep things interesting.

cheap looking and lacking any personality is its downfall, it is not extreme enough for a weekend fun car, but if you want a ``budget`` fast daily then it's perfect.

let's see if Hyundai decide to sell the 370hp RN30 ..............because that is definitely EXTREME enough ! they keep mentioning it in recent press releases so something fishy is going on.

CTR might look OTT, but in a good way. Don't think its looks like Halfrauds special, far too over used cliche. CTR looks cultured in its banzainess, you can tell the engineers had their way with this and not the finance committee, lots of character and personality about it.

I wouldn't say the i30 is cheap looking, the regular i30's are no more cheap than the Golfs in quality and appearance. It's a smart looking car, just on the bland side, its supposed to drive well, so I guess it will have customers who like subtle looks and a good sporty drive.

strangely enough i agree with you.........the 2017 Type R is awesome to look at, it grows on you.
the i30N looks a lot cheaper in real life than the photos, the wheels and brake calipers look very budget!..........but it does sound loud, you can hear it from a long way off; esp the pops and bangs ......... the Ricers gona' love it bro :D:D

I guess that's almost to be expected, they're not used to enthusiast customers at this point lol.

I honestly think these have a lot of character, wouldn't mind driving one. I reckon it has more soul than the 7.5 GTI.

that very one i photographed in the freezing cold is still for sale !

HA HA.......... it gets a great review but it's bland, i've seen this one on the roads about 5 times and it looks perfectly ok............. but it's looks like every other car around here, DEAD BORING.

it's damned loud at night too, it's much louder than the videos, the blue definitely isn't the right colour for it though....that one above is sold i haven't been in there since.
you dont need to use the rev match features anyway........you can adjust all its settings

Hyundai are doing some mods to this car for the future, or they've got another one planned for 2019, something about an 8 speed dual clutch..........with a big increase in horsepower but it's hard to tell for sure, but they're definitely moving into performance cars in a big way....2019 is roughly when the next WRX STI will be revealed

Haha..having worked at that very Hyundai dealership back when I was a teenager (my dad was the manager when it was Balmer Lawn Garage), I know exactly what the salesman means..everyone living around there is knocking on deaths door :)

Dunno how the place is still in business tbh..it was so quiet that we used to spend Saturday afternoons either having chair races up and down the showroom or playing cricket in the workshop :D

Interesting fact about Pennington..my great great grandparents used to own most of the land that is now Pennington village, until my great great grandad (who had a rather bad gambling problem) lost it in a card game!

ha ha.........you were probably there when the salesman sold me the 2nd generation Hyundai coupe !.............they're not exactly mad keen on the I30N either.......``it's a great car, but nobody wants it around here moan moan moan``...........i'm quiet this year with regards to cars though because i'm worried about mom, she's taken a turn for the worst!

that garage sells loads of cars they're doing ok, but only the boring old fart Hyundais.

Hyundai are supposed to be the next WRX STIs and Evos of this world, but their message of great hope and expectation isn't getting through to Pennington that's for sure HA HA, it's like an OAP Dead Zone.

They do look good for a hatch in the grey and black in particular. Got that Mazda mps type discreet status to the less knowledgeable as well.

yes it's deffo good looking.....it's sort of neutral to look at it, it's not OTT like the Type R, next year it's getting a paddle shifter...8 gears and dual clutch...............dont know anything else though, i've read every review going and it's deffo the one to go for.

this is the one...........at the end he mentions the new transmission due out next year.......... this RN30 is 380hp.

this mid engine one they're testing right now will be released in late 2019.........all i know is they're testing another engine right now (not the one in this mid engine thing) , i think it's 2.3L and 380+hp so where's this engine going ?

so if not the RN30, then it looks like two more N Cars late next year !

It’s price point is highly competitive!
yes but most of all, it's the best of the bunch except for the Golf R which is more expensive......but it's not competing with the Golf R though.

the I30N would also look a lot better with other wheels, no idea why that's not been mentioned in the reviews, they're really cheap and tacky looking.
