If I was born 100 years ago: Poor technology, hospitals a waste of time, no sport, no real transport etc etc essentially a much lower quality of life.

If I was born 100 years from now: Mega advanced technology - probably too advanced, global warming, no animals left, rainforest gone so probably no oxygen, maybe all fossil fuels have gone etc priminister is a robot blabla all the doom stories one will probably happen (especially no animals left). For some reason I can't imagine music existing past 2050, and there will be about 25million billion people so the world will be dead

Right now there is great technology, good standard of living, and I still have the chance to experience wildlife if I want to (the world is still alive). Maybe if I was born 20 years earlier it would be better cos Id have a good chance of seeing a Tiger which was numero uno animal until humans came along

discuss

If you were born between 1960-1990 then you are alive at the best time

in another 100 yeras life will be even better. we will still be alive, we will still have fuel to power technology. We will still have oxygen to breath.

Anyway it doesn't really matter when you live. Technology always advances so you generally live better than your farthers and you don't know about all this great technology so you didn't miss it.

I would love to see what it's like in 2100 but no chance of that.

Wow, quite deep for 7 in the morning.

I don't think i could live in another era then i am now. It just wouldn't be the same and the points you raised are good ones. :)
Sure i'd love to have a snippet of the past and future, just to see what it's like..in fact, to the point, i want a time machine. :o

Although, i am only young and i'm sure a better perspective of this thread will come from the older members of the forum. :)

Edit: No music?!

Is that a joke?

No animals left in 100 years time? LMAO. No music after 2050? WTF. Have you been taking drugs?

Current times aren't so great. Too much bad crap happening, too much injustice. I can't live in a time and place with all that, and so much of it. Many people just seem to be oblivious to it. They just go about their daily lives not giving a crap. I can't do that.

Of all the doom stories the rapid extinction of many animals is the only one that you struggle to find an argument to counter it, so its probably gonna happen..

Yes today is so much worse than it has been in the past. Injustice now is totally off the scale when compared to slavery, the holocaust and extreme racism.

What exactly is going to cause it then? Please explain.

Did I say it was worse now than in the past? NO. CASE CLOSED KTHXBYE.

Loss of habitat, 'global warming', introduction of animals into parts of the world where they shouldn't be (grey squirrel), world population expanding and needing more food (mass fishing - and that doesn't just kill fish), pollution. The list really is quite extensive.

Even if that DOES all happen and has a severe impact on animal population, you can't seriously believe it's going to make species extinct in a mere 100 years? And to EVERY species in the world? I don't think so.

I have been awake for almost 24 hours but i'm SO confused by the grey squirrel comment...and as for the fishing, still quite a few of the little things out there, just not so much of the popular stuff like cod i think?

Global warming is just opening a HUGE debate and i can't be bothered at this time in the morning. :o

Yes I do realise that but its not exactly easy to find one is it. If you go for a tour round a national park where there are only 6 tigers covering 300sqkm the odds don't exactly favour you

I saw quite a few at a local Zoo :)

But would you really wanna go round looking for one? They would probably eat you

What exactly do want me to do? Give a prediction on which year each species dies out? It was just a loose prediction for god sake can't you read between the lines? In 100 years there will most likely be lots of animals that have died out, and I don't see many new ones appearing?

The grey squirrel is generally regarded as one of the main reasons for the red squirrels decline - the grey squirrel isn't native to the UK, it was brought here by humans. It can happen to more extreme levels where a new animal disrupts the food chain, can't think of an example right round but its bound to have happened.

tbh I would have preferred to live in or around the 10th Century. imo all this technology just complicates our lives as well as mother-nature. Back then you just had books, education and knowledge, no distractions, no uneeded technologies.

All the guff you're on about has been happening since the dawn of time and in 100 years people will look back on our present and think "what horrible living conditions!" too.

I like squirrels. Quite a lot live on my Uni campus. :)
