:( driving to work today morning around 8.50 , a motorcycle driver in front of me about 300 meters fell down and got killed on the spot. He wasnt wearing a helmet neither any sort of protection clothing , very stupid imho but the scene was sickening...he was literally ripped apart and he was only doing 30 miles/h. i could never imagine 30 miles can kill you instantly and rip your head into chunks. i stopped to help but there was little i could do rather than keep people off and call the ambulance+police.

i noticed that cat eyes on the lanes played a significant role in this accident.

anyway , i cant concentrate to my work now , the images circle my mind. :(

it was his own fualt for not wearing a helmet one of the most important things on a bike, still its :o when stuff like this happens i saw a bloke get knocked of his bike when a car just turned off onto a road didnt even notice a bike was 2secs behind and he went stright into the car

Aye, there's that campaign on atm, about looking out for motorbikes on the road.

Really sorry to hear about that bloke, RTA's aren't nice :(

Sorry I hope you don't think i'm being a pedantic ass, but 8:50?

Sorry about you having to see that, not nice at all. :(

I remember, after just learning to drive, I was following a car in front of which was a motorcyclist and then a truck. A dog ran out in front of the truck and when they did an emergency stop the bike piled into the back of it, followed by the car in fron of me. I stopped OK (correct distances and all that) but the motorcyclist was crushed and died about 5 minutes later. That is why I will never get on a bike - they are just not safe.

Anyone who says they are not effected by seeing someone killed that way is lying so if you can't concentrate, you should take the day off. :(

oh in greece not illeagal not to wear a helm i dont think :(,

yeah theres lots of adverts about bikes and cars atm its kinda puttin me off from getting a bike but oh well

it is illegal not to wear a helmet in this country , and the penalty for getting caught is quite high . But you know some people dont understand that this piece of plastic can save your life. He was unfortunate i think , the weather is really humid here and i think he his bikes front wheel slipped when he tried to change lanes.

Iraklis, if your boss is at all human, he/she should let you have the rest of the day off as that kind of trauma can have all sorts of effects on you.

Don't be surprised if you unexpectedly vomit with no warning. Or burst into tears without actually crying.

There's all sorts of ways that it can manifest itself physically that won't hit you for several hours, and they are generally best kept private in your own home.

Trust me on this. I've been a paramedic and was in the military. I won't even TRY to count the number of times I've seen stuff like you described and it would still affect me in the same way today.....

Go home, do something relaxing. But being at work around other people is NOT a good idea right now.

i saw a old women collapse from heart attack, i dont she survived but a brake man started to pump her heart etc etc. while some other guy called the ambulance. i was too far away to help but i think i would have if she was next to me.
looking at that kind of scared my heart for days. then i just got over it.

your case seems pretty hard to accept, im sorry to hear it mate.

I seen a crash in my time as well, except this guy on the bike was doing 70 and the driver was doing atleast 60. The biker cuts a blind right hand corner and that was that. Suffice it to say he was wearing all the right stuff, but still he was dead. I wont go into details, as it isnt the time or place. But still, it messes you up. Try not to think about it mate, i know it is easier said than done, but try and see the whole thing as an experiance that you can act upon. Without sound patronising...... It wakes you up does it not?

Agreed. Go home, work is definitely not the place to be right now.

i cant leave work today unfortunately , i was 2 days off cause i was ill (monday+tuesday) so its not easy to leave as you understand.

i am a biker my self too and was driving work today with my bike, everytime i hear or see a biker injured or dead it really hits me , we are like a big "family".

Have you explained to your boss what happened? I'm pretty sure this comes under an exceptional circumstance.

Nasty experience mate, I'm glad I didn't see it.. and more proof that bikes are deathtraps. Even if you have a helmet on, it doesn't take much to be seriously injured or killed, in accidents which would be much much less serious in a car.

That sucks. Pretty traumatic for sure. We once found a guy who'd shot himself when we were on holiday. Kinda spoilt the day.

Silly of him not to be wearing a helmet.

By the by, I would guess that cats eyes prevent way more accidents than they cause, and that a lower percentage of bikes end up in accidents compared to cars.
