I Can Feel It Building Up But .....

Well for a start Paris is a nice looking city, got some gorgeous looking females and they have a transport system that works pretty darn good. That'll do for me.

At university here and live between London bridge and Greenwich..my Londoner side says oh god more tourists to get in my way, the other part of me thinks OH YEAAAAAAAA OLYMPICS!

It's a shame that female attractiveness isn't one of the factors considered when choosing a location :(

Seriously, though, I think London is much like any other large city - very nice in some places, highly unpleasant in others. Some outer areas of Paris are supposed to be pretty rough!

London beats Paris on all three points you've mentioned! Both London and Paris have their good/bad places!

(provided we're not on strike)

Could not give a flying fig. I really could not give two hoots about the London Olympics.

Never cared for the Olympics before. Considering it is in a City I don't care about, will not effect the majority of people in the medium to long term and the legacy being the majority funding it through increased Council Tax for many years, I think I am justified in not giving a poop.

This attitude doesn't make sense to me. If you want to be somewhere where things of global importance happen, move to a global city. If you prefer to live somewhere that's not really on the global map, then you can't really act surprised when the world ignores it. It's one or the other!

I'm loving my OP knowing i'm not alone in my thoughts. It's like when it snow's. When we have snow in the North East we just get on with it. When it snows in London it's the main news headlines on BBC News24 and SKY. The Olympics in London will not benefit the rest of the country but because it's in London then the rest of the UK must embrace it ...

I live in London and I don't give a **** about the Olympics.

I laugh at certain people I know who are so concerned about if they have tickets.

I'm more worried about how much co2 it will produce. I imagine an athlete pumps out about as much as an outback camel.

What a bunch of losers you all are, seriously:p.

I'm pretty excited. I didn't get any tickets but it's practically 3 weeks of constant sport at the highest level, and it's all televised. What's not to like?

Yep what's not to like well, 3 weeks of constant sport at the highest level... I couldn't think of anything MORE boring to watch other than an IMax Film about Sardines.

The whole Thing is happening 20 Mins down the road from me, im sure ill pop along and say Hi at some point, but im sure we will **** it up somehow in true British fashion or some "Unhappy Northern Muslim chaps" will blow up part of it.

Im a bit 'meh' about 2012 too. We are typical English. We complain when we don't have it, and when we finally we get it, we don't care lol :D

Manchester? Really?!

Seriously... On that subject why should people go to manchester? I have someone there at the moment and they are bored after two days and another friend suggests it's just "rubbish". Suggestions as to what to do would be useful! :p
Manchester is pretty definite to get some tourism during the games as it's hosting some of the football matches.

There is plenty to do in and around Manchester, there are plenty of threads on here about things you can do and places you can go.

I'm not that fussed by the sports themselves, but London should be very lively come 2012, the architecture of many of the venues is stunning (swimming and cycling most especially), you'll have a large, quality public park where before was wasteland, Stratford as an area will be much much nicer as large swathes are regenerated, a new Westfield for your other half to waste the day in, and it's had a knock-on effect in terms of getting other projects in London going.

I aint bothered either never watched "olympics" or any other sport but I confess I aint into sport at all.

But I gotta say the billions poured into sport (specially the Olympics) is staggering. Cant help wondering what else could have been done with that.

I couldn't give a crap about who can run the fastest or throw a stick the furthest.

Lol +1
