I don't understand the negativity towards Prius

I’ll take tractor noise over the incessant drone of a CVT auto.

You don’t hear that in normal driving or indeed those days you leave at 6:30am and the neighbour think their milk is being delivered late...

You don't have to have a cvt either if you look away from the Toyota. The ioniq has a highly efficient dual clutch setup rather than a cvt. Cvt isn't the only option for hybrids.

I can believe it. The old PD TDIs are more economical than the modern DPF diesels. I’ve seen 60mpg brim to brim doing 400 mile return motorway trips in a Fabia vRS on fat sticky tyres.

It’s not on it last legs, only has 40k on it. I commute on foot. Owned from new. Scheduled maintenance only and a brake calliper so far. I understand that most vehicles of a similar age are not in similar condition.

he's talking about 65mpg in a city in rush hour traffic though. where it takes you an hour to drive 10 miles.

55mpg. ;)

Can't comment further, wasn't my post. Plus I've walked to work for over 10 years. Don't miss rush hour commuting at all. I get 45mpg on the three mile trip across town to the supermarket if it helps according to the MFA.

If I had to drive to commute to work across a city then I can see the appeal of a petrol hybrid like the Auris/CT200h.
