I failed my test AGAIN !!!

I honestly think that the driving test should be three strikes rule. If you can't pass by your third go you should never be allowed to drive.
That would put SO much pressure on that third test though.

IMO I don't care how long it takes someone to pass as long as by the time they finally get their licence they have reached the required standard.

I'm at work at the moment, so won't have any links to hand.

I believe though, it came from an insurance company, as people who pass 2nd / 3rd / whatever time have more lessons which makes them a better driver.

No worries. Post the links when you find them again. Thanks

Not really, it would make people have those extra few lessons before taking it to make sure they would pass it second time

That's a bad idea, you'll increase the number of failures as people will literrally be shaking with the pressure on their 3rd, that if they fail again they'll never be allowed to drive ever.

Failing once I can understand, nerves, poor luck, etc, or you're just not a good enough driver yet. Go off and practice some more or have more lessons and book another test when you've had more time to build your confidence and ability behind the wheel..

It doesn't always work like that though does it? Not everybody can build their confidence and experience enough in 3 tests. Some people take 4 or 5 attempts before they finally get over their nerves and are able to prove to the examiner that they are actually a safe driver.

Unlucky mate, but the things u said are easily avioded.
During emergency stop just push the brake down firmly lol, didnt you pratice it with your instructor?

I was taught by my instructor, when doing the Emergency stop to slam down the brake and just before you stop put the clutch down.

Then apply the handbrake, and put the car in neutrel ;)

Only 1 in 3 (or something) people have to do an emergency stop on their test though

Some health and safety regarding whiplash to the tester.

So odds are he wont have to do it in his next one :D

Unlucky mate, keep at it, 3rd time lucky :)

With regards to stalling; I don't think they can fail you on that, not unless you keep stalling a lot.

So take practice tests with your instructor and another instructor. And practice and practice and then practice some more until you are ready to take your test.

But like I said, if you keep having to take test after test until you pass you could just fluke a pass and remain a poor and dangerous driver.

The emphasis should be on learning to drive properly and not learning how to pass a test.

I passed second time (technically) but it was the third test as I was late for the second hehe..

But un-lucky mate, im still waiting to hear from a freind of mine, he had his test today..

Good luck for next time :)

You can practice for 7000 hours but people will still get nervous during their real test. It wouldn't be fair if a cut-off point like that was introduced, a lot of safe drives who suffer from test nerves would be denied the right to drive.

True and I'm sure that happens. The same way that boy-racers drive almost perfectly on their test in order to get their license, but then go and pick up their mates a few hours later and wrap the car around a large redwood, but banning everyone who fails a 3rd time is ridiculous.

It's not the driving skill that's the issue. Plenty of good drivers learn how to drive safely and skilfully—but as soon as they're sitting next to the real examiner, on their real test, they get nervous and make silly mistakes—does this mean they're a crap driver? Not really, they're just one of those people who get nervous for things like that, they can't help it. I was nervous during my test but I managed to pass. The worst I've ever drove was on my test, yet it was still test standard thankfully, since then I've never been nervous in the car since and I haven't had any problems.

I just don't think a blanket permanent ban on drivers who fail on their 3rd test is a fair or viable solution.
