I GIVE UP. XBOX 360 = USELESS

I cannot do ANYTHING these days without getting screwed over. On several occasions I like to treat myself with upgrades and whatnot.

Lets have a breakdown of my year so far.

1. Tuniq Tower - PC would randomly not boot, due to a dry spot in mobo. So I sold that and now use a Freezer 7.

2. Bought an 8800GT and the Fan was stuck on 100% ALL the time so I had to get an aftermarket cooler.

3. I bought a 22" Samsung TFT and it died within 10 minutes of use.

4. I bought an Xbox 360, the HDMI version, planning to use HDMI with a connector into my Samsung TFT and use the red/white banana plugs to go into my amp for sound.

There was no HDMI cable supplied, even though it had an HDMI port.

5. I drive upto Argos to get a £5 HDMI Cable

So I bought the super duper HDMI cable, got back, and its so bloody thick I cant get the HDMI cable and the Xbox/AV lead in the back at the same time.

Needless to say I am thoroughally p****d off. What have I done to deserve this? I earn my paychecks like everybody else, 9-5 five days a week.

So what do I do now? Oh yes try to play my new Xbox with NO SOUND!

/RANT.

You can put the audio cable into your pc and play the sound through that, thats what i did.

Anyway, quit your moaning, there is children in Africa that have only got spectrums and commodore 64's, never mind a 360 with no sound.

This isnt the kind of response I expected. I DID Research before I buy, thank you. I Specifically bought the newer 65nm model with HDMI so I could use it with this screen.

"How does it make an xbox 360 useless?" No sound. Im just fed up that nothing can just "work" like it seems to for everyone else. Nomatter what I do there are always complications involved.

I watched youtube videos of people with this exact version of the console and I swear they got a HDMI cable. Now I am stuck between my xbox on a old 14" Bush TV which cant play games as it wont do 60Hz, or my nice Samsung with no sound at all.

This post merely shows how I have been stung by so much had luck this year.

I cant even use headphones with it/headset as its only for voice too..
 
they have deliberately made it impossible to use the hdmi and av output at the same time so that you buy the official hdmi cable...

edit: anyway, is your tft a tv? does it have an audio output? If you have the right cables could you connect the tv out to your amp and use the sound over hdmi?

Maybe you should just end it all now and spare yourself any more of this horrendous stupi...I mean, bad luck ;)

Read the post again. I was going to get a cheap one but this is all they had, so was worth a shot.

I dont see how its user error... And this post isnt JUST about the 360, see the other bad luck ive had.

I have been building PCs and the like since I was 11 years old, now 18 I dont think I would make simple mistakes like this.

I am using a Samsung Monitor which is capable of HD, hence why I need to use both the HDMI and the AV sockets. Learn to read before making false accusations. As it's a monitor no it does not have Audio, just DVI (which I have a DVI>HDMI Adaptor)

Fair enough this is the last time I will ever post on OCUK due to the sarcastic comments from several people. I'm just fed up with the bad luck Ive had, decide to get it off my chest here and all you lot can do is post sarcastic comments imposing I am incomepetant or stupid.

So if it isn't just 360 related, why is XBOX 360 = USELESS in capital letters in the title? Bit troll-y to be honest, especially as nothing seems to indicate that the 360 is useless.

Lighten up, people always poke fun at others misfortune. You can't post on an internet message board and expect totally serious replies, surely? :p

Hope you sort your 360 (and other life) issues, cant help but think it could have been avoided though.

Thanks for trying to help out at least :) Pretty sure that would invalidate my warranty but I might do it regardless.

A) Did you reasearch the brand type and cooler prior to purchase?

A) Its an optional output. It came with component connectors no? Just deal.

A) Not the 360's fault only pricey cable in stock.

About not being able to have both connected at same time, that is unfortunate, but there are ways around it.

I have just as bad luck with electronics - first 360 dies in 2 weeks, was sent wrong laptop, graphics cards not working, new hard drives killing motherboards. ITs just one of those things. Happens to all of us, and far worse than has happened to you. Not worth bitching about.
