Mines out of Warranty now had it since Jan 2006, (my 2nd 360).

I track it back to the PES6 update..that's when the problems started. Just tried playing it again...same issues: corrupted screen and frozen xbox.

False alarm, had my PS3 plugged in to the tele instead of the 360.
Got red lights from AV cable not being in.

I'm interested to know how many are breaking that have been bought recently; I want to know whether they have fixed the reliability issues with the current builds. I won't be buying one until they have.

There's no real way to tell, you could just try breaking it yourself every 12 months before the warranty runs out then get a brand new one (If you get a new warranty with the new console).

You dont. I found that out recently on my last exchange(also checked with trading standards). The only reason i got my warranty reset the first time was because i upgraded from a core to a Premium after my first 360 failed(new receipt, new warranty).

honestly, to anyone thinking of getting a 360 STOP FANNYING AROUND AND JUST BUY ONE!

IF it goes wrong, you'll be covered by the warranty. It's not the end of the world if it breaks.

Just got off the phone to MS..decent guy. Gonna email me the labels etc, but this time i have to provide my own box to package it up in. Hmm.

He said they'll also send me a month's Live voucher for the trouble.

That'll do.

Don't play it that much anyway, mainly at weekends. Hopefully the one i get back will be better. It'll be my fourth!!

Sorry but I don't spend large amounts of money on things I know are unreliable.
