I HATE Windows updates!

yeah it happened to me I just changed the setting a bit....

and it makes you install all updates before SPs >_> althrough you can get the stand alone

at least its not like linux were you have to type in the root password :D

...feels like every bloody minute that i have to type in that password on my ubuntu lappy :(
 
Upgrade to Windows 7

and next time, maybe take a minute to go through the windows setup where you can change the option before you even go into windows for the first time.

Huh?

Why the daft suggestion to upgrade to Windows 7? What's that got to do with anything other than wasting money? :)

And the point at hand is of course it's a stupid default setting, that most people will have no clue can even be changed, yet alone how to even change it.
 
I find it quite silly that someone who's got the know-how to build a high end system, doesn't know to use the Control Panel if he doesn't like the OS's behaviour.

Also, I believe the default setting in Vista gives a dialogue box saying the system will restart in X minutes. Most likely you won't see it when playing games in fullscreen.
