I know it's meant to be a great guitar, but the handle seems pointless and makes it harder to take it seriously. Aesthetics aren't everything by a long shot, but it still doesn't make much sense to me.

I also thought the same before I had one, but it's very useful! It's not really a good idea carrying your guitar around by the neck as there's a lot of weight resting on that neck joint, I also use the handle now

When Vai designed the Jem with Ibanez he actually wanted the 'monkey grip' so he could do loads of stupid tricks like holding the guitar above his head whilst doing a legato run with one hand.

To be honest thought if I had a choice I wouldn't have the grip as I do think it looks stupid sometimes.

Oh and you can look through it :cool:

i wouldnt say "OMG i'm so metal" is something to say of the Jem guitars, they have a girly flowery vine going down the neck! hehe.
