I haven't done any music theory in a loooong time so excuse me if this is a stupid question, but... what makes 6/7 any worse than 6/8? You still have 6 beats to a bar, which isn't entirely non-standard, although god knows where the accents would fall. Now 17/32... that's where the good times are!

well, i could have quoted the first post about time signatures but meh.

can anyone link me to a simple easy to understand tutorial on time signatures? they've always baffled the hell outta me!

The full album has been leaked according to people on Tool Navy. I will NOT be listening to the full album until May 1st. I also won't be in this thread until then to avoid any spoilers.

Still holding strong here, watched a few Tool videos on utube to tied me over. Decided to order the new Pearl Jam album that's out the same day from cd-wow but couldn't risk it with the Tool one incase it takes an age to deliver, dunno if they send them out a couple of days pre-release or not.

And in answer to dmpoole it's officially released in the UK on 1st May and US 2nd may I think.

check toolnavy - it seems he's not the only one... a few days ao someone said that they were due in stores in a few days - its completely possible it leaked that way

it's still not a legitimate way to obtain the album though, is it?

that's like me using BitTorrent (legal application) to download a show screened legally in America. it's illegal

I have heard it and it's errm...different? Not quite what I expected at all really.

All I will say to elaborate a little is that for me the album is a bit of a rollercoaster, a few ups and downs, but with some very nice twists. I do like it, but to love it will take a few listens.

I know when some first hear it, it's going to be, "OMGWTFTHISROCKSBESTALBUMEVAR!!!!!1111ONETWO". But I like to rate stuff on it's merits and not get caught up in new album hysteria, people saying it's the dogs danglies just because it's new.

It took me a good few listens, probably more to get into Aenima when I first heard it, and that's the beauty of it with Tool, and I'm hoping with 10,000 will be the same too.

I've listened to it twice while I've been running so you Tool fans will shout 'sacrilege'.
I'm not familiar with Tool but its listenable and some of the tunes do link with each other.
One track has got the Smells Like Teen Spirit riff in it (sort of).
