I would say let your wife use the Intel build...

For VM the Ryzen will outperform the 7700k by a big margin, even the 1600 will outperform it I reckon based on core counts?
 
I'll see what I fancy when they're built. I need to get my hands on the BioStar X370GTN first and missed the first shot at Newegg! I've asked when the swiss dist. will have it in stock though. Then I'm going:

Biostar X370GTN
AMD 1700X
HyperX 32GB 2800mhz DDR4
Samsung 960 Pro 500gb M.2

I will either wait (by the time I build this up anyway, it should be out) for VEGA or go for a 1070, or maybe even 480. I haven't really decided. It'll all be a bit overkill anyway, but you know...

I got a notification to say that the French post has my GTX1080, which means I no doubt won't see it until I'm back from the US as I leave on Sunday, which is annoying as anything!
 
And the 1080 is in. She's virtually complete. I've tidied bits up and put it together again and there we have it. Tight squeeze but made it. Think this should do until for a bit until I can get a decent itx board for the ryzen.

Neat as I could make it considering. Benchmarks are rather lovely on it.
