I miss Dayz days...

It must be 2012 when it first became big but I never did get around to buying Arma2 for it and I hear Standalone is a disaster.

What is DayZ on Arma3 like? I assume thats the best way to play it now?

I've actually wanted to try this game. Is it too late to get into?

I'd say so, people have moved on to arma 3/mods h1z1/battle royale etc

Yeah, arma 3 is pretty much amazing, Dont have it, but the games and mods for it are perfection. but for the price..I bought gta5 instead but that turned out to have too many hackers haha

I have Arma 3. Are these mods in the steam workshop? I'm pretty new to modding?

Wasn't DAYZ basically Arma 2 with a mod?

What mod for arma 2? I havent played in ages, Ive got arma 2 and dayzmod installed..but I need other files right to run?

it was fun until the novelty wore off, mainly due to how bad the engine is when modded.

DayZ SA should have filled that gap and become great, it started off with so many promises and I even enjoyed it when I looked forward to what it would become.

Now its 2/3 years later, has more hats and is the biggest waste of £20 in my gaming life.

Yup if it was any other industry the company behind Day:SA would have been in court for false advertising/breach of contract or something similar.

I have chucked in to quite a few early access/betas or whatever they want to call them but DayZ:SA is the only one I feel ripped me off. Guess I should have known better though ask hated the mod. The idea was fine but the game just felt awful, from the Hud/Inventory to the animation!

I don't feel it's dead quite yet. I just reinstalled the mod about a week ago and have been having a blast. There's a few good busy uk servers still. Just got on a good epoch server this evening as well.

Its not dead as a free mod, paid, they can **** off for the quality it provides.

I can deal with massive clunkiness and bugs for free, not when my wallet has a say.

I don't miss paying £20 or £30 and playing it once because it was a complete utter buggy mess.

I think its the empty promises that let me down more. If it was 'pay £20/30 and get whatever we feel like doing' I wouldnt have bought it.

As it was, they had that development roadmap with vehicles, base building, crafting etc etc and virtually none of it has happened, and what has happened is bugs and runs like cack.

IMO my £20 went towards funding development, whaich I knew, and which hasn't happened. DayZ SA raised something like £20 million in the first couple of months of alpha, its the same with more hats and some gardening.

It was great when it first surfaced, in May 2012- I remember because it was right at the end of my third year at uni so I had enough free time to get the frickin mod to install.

Exactly. Had some great fun with the mod.

The SA had promise until the filled the woodlands with new towns and turned into a crafting game.

The official forums are run and moderated by utter fanboys these days, so forget trying to debate any of the SA's faults...

Ah the good old dayz of the DE4 server...

Had the server before it became popular, people would actually interact with one another. It was a totally different game back then...
