I miss Dayz days...

Loved the mod and all the beginning work, getting a base set up on our server and then becoming a Hero helping others.

Felt good jumping onto random servers when I was part of the Reddit rescue force and helping them.

This was back in the days that you could dupe gear and food so you only needed the 1 water and food on you to survive.

I have good memories of Dayz Mod with fellow ocuk forum members. Some great times holding bridges up and sneaking around when gun shots are heard! no..you go and look...i'm not losing all my gear! lol

I didn't find it much fun to be honest and a bit boring. I guess I didn't 'get it'.
I actually wanted a decent zombie survival FPS but it seemed that each server just ended up trying to be some kind of youtube 'take your pants off for subscriber laughs' mechanism.
I do understand that it's a 'make your own fun' game which whilst sometimes I have time for, often I don't and I prefer that kind of thing in a LAN setting.
After wasting my cash on this I now steer clear from this game type/style as they all seem to be very similar but a different setting such as rust.

Arma 2 DayZ (OverPoch) I still play quite a lot of, there are some servers that still get fully packed, and I mean packed. If anyone wants someone to play with, I've got a couple of other guys I'm teamed with; you can join with us if you want :)

loved the original DayZ hate the standalone which is a shame.
Been playing some arma 3 mods, exile which is good.

Exile is brilliant. Proves that there really is no need for the zombies, they just used to do my head in anyways as they're so poorly created.

DayZ SA is fantastic, it's what got me back into PC building! It is still a buggy mess but it is also slowly starting to take shape and the mods truly don't have a patch on it (harhar)! Although I can't speak for Arma 3, haven't tried it yet.

I have Arma 3. Are these mods in the steam workshop? I'm pretty new to modding?

Wasn't DAYZ basically Arma 2 with a mod?

Play on the Exile mod. a lot of servers dont have the zombies, but the mod itself is great.

Lol, with a team of dev's working on it they've made next to no progress on the game. PRetty much every single mod in Arma 3 is miles ahead of this POS. Go and play Exile/Epoch/Dayz -Dev server CCg and come back and tell me how "good Sa is" haha.

OP and others seriously, dont waste your hard earned money on Dayz SA gash! The other day they broke the game and zombies were no longer in the game... It became Day-no-Z.

OR.... If you really want to experience dayz, go on Arma 2 and play Overpoch, that will give you a completely rounded/central view on the whole series. Dayz was good, Overpoch was the best good damn game/mod i've ever played.... Nearly split up with my misses over it!!

I've actually wanted to try this game. Is it too late to get into?

Get Arma 3 and give Exile a go. Survival just wuthout the Zombies but it's bloody good fun.

Kinda' like Overpoch from Arma 2 where you could do base building but it's been revamped. Very good

Only if by survival, you mean spend 4 seconds to find 5 high calibre rifles and 6 cans of food.

DayZ SA is not like A3:E or A2:O, because it puts more emphasis on the requirement to survive against the environment, not just spawn campers.
Yes, I agree SA has taken way too long to get where it needs to be, and the loss of Zombies at the moment is a bit annoying, but I still enjoy it for what it provides.
I played Overpoch for ages but it got boring being sniped by people camping just outside safe zones.
I also played Exile but you just begin to feel like James Woods in Family Guy, ooh a gun, ooh a gun, ooh a gun, ooh a gun.

Spent about 20 minutes in a town did not see one. Performance is still terrible for the most part, lowered res to 1440p and still not much better even on normal settings.

the stand alone had so much potential, yet another example of why i hate early access games. Developer does a great job and all is looking up then they cash out and development slows down and by the time the game is finished (stand alone is no way near finished) nobody wants to play it anymore because they played so much early access or were put off by it...

I don't know how quick you expect the game to be developed but 2/3 years is still well within acceptable limits. You're either ignorant of game development processes or just trolling. As for "Day-no-Z"

That was ONE patch for development reasons and they are back now in 0.59 experimental. I don't know why you are acting so butt-hurt over probably the best 20/30 quid anyone can spend in gaming at the moment. Most games twice the money don't give you 100 hours of gameplay, a broken DayZ gives most a lot more.

Mod was great when there was nothing else, but even the Alpha of DayZ is better on paper, just getting the performance issues sorted now but that's why there is a disclaimer before you buy i; because it's not finished.

As for replying to the OP about buying it; only buy the game if you are willing to be part of active development and can put up with lots of bugs and random character wipes among a plethora of other problems.

Otherwise just wait until the final version is out and read the reviews, watch the twitch/youtubes and make the decision like some other people here should have done.

I didn't regret buying dayz sa at first, had a few fun moments on it, knew I was buying into an alpha.

Didnt expect to be here 3 years later with very little added to it.

That is true, you come across guns far quicker without ever having to do that risky trip to the NWAF/NEAF but I quite like that at times. Even the Bolota airfield gives you good guns and is often quite fun for PvP.

But yeah, you don't quite get the same satisfaction as you did during A2:DayZ when you find a pair of NVGs quickly and a M4. It's a different kind of game, that's for sure. I did have more fun with the A2 mod but Exile is a brilliant mod.

The standalone isn't worth touching, in my opinion. at 1440p even medium/low settings I barely get 25fps on my overclocked 980Ti
