As I've got somebody coming to look at my car next week I've been outside washing, polishing and waxing it so it looks its best.

Now I'm not sure if I'm getting old or what but it's damn hard work, especially the Stage 1 Meguiars (Paint Cleaner) so I decided to take a break. Sitting here at my PC with a cuppa in hand my wallet magically opened and out came my VISA card. Before I knew it I'd ordered a Porter Cable 7424

It's basically what the professionals use and should save my arms from dropping off (which is how they feel right now). I've had to order it from America so I hope it arrives this week so I can use it when preparing the car.

Pics of the shiniest MR2 and Type-R in Bristol will follow soon :)

In the meantime, I'd better get back to it!!

Just ordered the polisher from the US, the rest I can get from UK places.

I've already ordered my transformer and the other bits needed to make it work on our 240V supply.

Surely with your paintwork you wont need the paint cleaner, i have always found, you only really need to do that once when you get a car for the first time, regular polish and wax then keeps it pretty well protected.

Mind there is something deeply satisfying once you get it all cleaned up with the claybar/3 stage. Then 10 mins later it looks dirty again, damn black paintwork!

Totally the opposite actually.
Even though I'd say my paintwork is damn good and I've garaged my car over Winter you wouldn't believe just how much crap has come off my paint today when I've been doing the Stage 1!!! I've gone through about 20 microfibre cloths already and still haven't started the side panels or rear bumper.

How much did you pay inclusive of taxes etc?

All in all it's cost me £140ish. The PC cost £100 inc delivery and I also had to buy a transformer and other bits from Screwfix which cost another £40.

Fancy doing my car too? ;)

Looking forward to the pics

Let me get the CTR done first then you can bring the Rex round sometime and we'll get to work on making it gleam :)

I have been thinking of getting a PC, my dad may help me pay for it aswell, as i would probably end up using it on his car aswell. I cant wait to see the results.

Mark.

Owned one for a fair while now, and even if I do say so myself I'm damn handy with one!

Ask away any questions you might have for specific products etc.

In fact if your only going to use it a couple of time and then sell I would be interested in a second.

Thanks for the links, should be useful

If it can turn

and this

into this

Then I'm gonna be very happy with it!!

Is that chrome

Have any of you guys used G3 moping compound??? that stuff pretty top but you can take off lots of paint if you aint carefull!

I think it's a sign of getting old. I've got a similar one from Makita and it's 1700 Watts of complete laziness. They say you can't polish a turd, well you can...

That would be awesome, to be fair though the paintwork isn't the best, it would benefit from a respray TBH.
