I must be getting lazy.....

Looks chrome or is chrome?
I got a little polisher, nothing like that but polishing is hard work and I figured I would never bother otherwise so it was worth it. A good polish keeps the car cleaner for about 6 months I reckon, no polish and just a clean is really a waste of time/money in comparison

Chrsit, be careful with these things buddy. The slightest over pressure and you'll be paying out for a new paint job where you've burned through the paint...

Basically, apply NO pressure what so ever, and don't leave it in any one spot for a prolonged period of time

Nah, they're relatively safe as they're random orbital, there's a thread at detailing world where they used one to cut through paint, it took a long, long time and even then it was only through actually burning the paint off...

Guys you need to remember anyone can own a pair of boots, but not everyone can score a goal.

The PC is only a third of what is needed to make a car look that good, after two years I'm still learning.

The first step is buying to PC like a load of people have, then the second step is getting the right products. Even the color of the car can make a big difference in what products are best suited, and belive me a good collection can cost £400+ and that just on the outside paint work!

Step three is then being able to apply and remove the product correctly, and trust me you'll find little things can cause problems. From people waxing bumper strips, too not drying the car properly, too leaving on polish/wax etc for too long.

I'm not saying good results can't be had, but excellent is what I strive to reach, and only now would I count myslef 'excellent' at detailing cars on a hobbie scale, you should see the work some 'proper' profesional detailer can do, it's very scary!

My advise for a black car would be the Clearkote range as it's what I used on the Black ITR with award winning results!

Basic usage was:

Rinse with water
Wash with clearkote shampoo ( I find Poorboy's better now, watch out for Megauiars NXT as it's proven to strip you wax slowly )
Rinse with water
Dry with meguiars waffle weave
Clay bar whole car with clearkote claybar and clearkote quikshine
With a porter cable with a black pad, work in DACP ( Meguiars #83 proffsional ), wipe down with microfibre cloth
Polish with Clearkote Vanilla moose wax ( white pad ) and wipe down with clean microfibre cloth
Wax with Clearkote Carnauba Moose Wax ( black pad ), wipe off with another clean microfibre cloth
Wash
Dry with waffle weave
Once over on car with clearkote quikshine and a clean microfibre.

Now it took around three proper runs of this too get the car looking as good as the one above, I'm sure it could have been done first time but I was getting new techniques as I went along.

By now I have many different products, but not the time too try them all out on the vRS. I'm hoping to get time to do the whole car to show standard at the end of the summer I'm so busy at the moment.
In fact some of the doctors that live in the street has been asking if I would like to branch out into paid work, but thoose X5 look a handful :p

I seem to be able to score goals barefoot ;)

That was just done by hand. It's actually a lot better now as I've just spent 3 days getting it ready as I've got somebody coming to look at it on Saturday.

I'll try and get some photo's before it goes :)

Have you got yours yet?
You will need to post all the best products to use with it once you do :)

Edit: You need to be signed up to that website to see the thread you mensioned.
Could you post the pictures on here please :)

Look at the mirror effect on the bottom picture
You can almost see the brand names of the products they used :D
Thanks for posting that up :)

Black cars look amazing when they've been polished properly, problem is that it takes a fair bit of work to get them like that (hence why I've decided to buy a professional polisher!)

Holy ****. That's a pro job, talk about deep shine.

I polish and wax mine once every 3 months but it's so frustrating on a white car - the effort I put in never really shows.
