I must be getting lazy.....

WOW

In all honesty my paintwork is probably in a similar state to that MR2. looks like it can work miracles

it's so frustrating on a white car - the effort I put in never really shows.
Same :(

I've got freshly sprayed bumpers/skirts to go on mine within the next couple of weeks, so really want to get the rest of the 10 year old, 170k mile paintwork up to scratch.

However, being white, it'll never show up as well as other colours do :(

ive seen these used on the car programs on discovery home and leisure

they work a treat

btw is there some kind of protective coat you can put over that to stop it loosing its shine ?

ive heard of all sorts, teflon based lacquers, protective film etc.. any of them any good ?

My advise for a black car would be the Clearkote range as it's what I used on the Black ITR with award winning results!

I have a lot of Clearkote products but wasn't mega impressed with them. I've been thinking about trying out some of the Poorboys stuff but not sure what to get.

I'm being even more lazy and paying someone else to do mine today :)

Do you have a balck car?

I've found it's only superb on balck cars as it gives the finish a deep wet look, that most other cars won't benefit from in the same extent.

Poorboy's are very good, but I tend to like their car shampoo and interior vinyl more than their wax/polish range.

It's true to say that no company has the whole range in any manor, nearly all detailers that do a lot of car have many favourites depending on car color, quality of paint etc, so it's always more of a case of doing homework on your cars special needs on the larger detaling forums.

Mines a metallic blue. I'm thinking I may just bite the bullet and buy the Swissol Samurai wax as that is apparently made with Japanese cars in mind (indeed I think someone said it was especially good on subaru paint)

Just a bit expensive if it doesn't look THAT much better than what I already have - every year I try something new, got Autoglym, Clearkote and Meguairs (SP). Never really truly happy with the finished article though.

Take a gander at these threads, as they are all Scoobie specific ( and mostly all blue paint )

I've been looking at that SSR stuff but isn't the 2.5 quite abrasive? The paint on my car is now 5 1/2 years old and has a fair amount of marks and swirls but I don't want to damage it in anyway.

Also, one quick claybar query - should it be replaced or can you keep using and using it? I've got the clearkote one I use with the detailer but I'm thinking it could do with changing as its quite grubby.

Lastly, can the clearkote waxes be used with one of these electric polishers?

I'm thinking about going to Japfest and would really like to get the car "just so" before hand.

:)

this was done by hand on a black car...

done by hand, and boy did my arms ache after. since then i bought a rotary polisher similiar tho the ones mentioned here. the advice i can give is... dont turn it on with the paste on the polishing head until its on the surface of the car otherwise it can get just a bit messy....
