I need an operation to remove a tumour

I'm so sorry to hear it's come back. All the very, very best in fighting it again. I'm sure things will be ok and the guys and girls at the Marsden are utterly fantastic. I had a tumour removed a year ago almost to the day so can understand a little of what you're going through.

Keep us informed.

All the best for the second operation OP!

I cant sympathise with what you are going though but recently had a bit of a scare myself, got a lump on my neck, useless doctor though it was salivary gland stone, specialist said not a chance as its in the totally wrong place, her initial thought was that I could have had lymphoma but luckily it turns out I have a Bronchial Cleft Cyst, still pretty rare!
But cant emphasise how important it is to get these things checked ASAP, I put it off for a few weeks and only now almost 12 weeks later will I see a Surgeon to discuss the options!

Hard to know what to say, but my thoughts are with you. You've beat it once and Im sure you can do it again! :)

Just read through all seven pages of this - there's nothing I can say/type that will make any difference I know this. :(

Still my thoughts and prayers are with you OP - you've done it before and you can beat this!

It's actually not set in stone but early in the new year it's been growing slowly for a year 1cm delaying surgery is actually beneficial for the reasons posted above. Ie less chance of spread

Makes sense, well good luck again mate, but I don't think you'll need it, reading through the thread I can see you're a fighter so keep us posted.

CT scan and a biopsy has confirmed that i have a rare cancer called Liposarcoma and its in located it my groin. Its a cancer of the fatty tissues, the causes of which are at present unknown.

My first consultant at Christies in Manchester June 18th told me it was unoperable, thankfully a second opinion was sought.

Last week I was seen by Professor Merion Thomas a surgeon at The Royal Marsden who has agreed to remove it 15th September.
Unfortunately there is a 5% chance that i might not live through the operation as my main artery passes through it and there is a risk that I may bleed out on the table.

Friends and family are supporting me, but i just wanted to tell my friends on OCUK that you never know what is round the corner and treasure your life because you only get one chance at it.

I hope to receive some notes of encourangement and support because these next few weeks are going to be difficult for me and my loved ones.

As you can tell by the time i'm posting this message i'm having a pretty sleepless night even with the aid of sleeping tablets.

What made you go for a check up? and good luck.

Best of luck to you, not much I can say to make it any easier. However, I'll continue to laugh at people that seem to believe their lives are hard because they don't have the latest gadgets.
