Well basically, I was supposed to have been going to see Depeche Mode today as I had a VIP ticket etc which didn't cost me anything. I'm not really into DM, but I figured it was something I shouldn't pass up as the ticket was free anyway. I was meant to be driving up with flatmates, giving a share on petrol and then catching the train from Reading into Paddington and across to Wembley etc.
Up until this point I'd have been okay for money, but when I woke up my other flatmate told me we'd be going to an after-show party. I know I can't afford this as it will mean i'd be totally out of pocket and it would seriously annoy my parents as they just bailed me out of being TOTALLY skint with an early birthday present.
I don't like borrowing money and I don't think my flatmates could afford to lend me extra, nor would I ask anyway.
I've added up all the little bits of money and I simply can't afford it and as I'd rather be in pocket, i've decided not to go. My flatmate is upset I can't go and i'm quite disappointed I can't go too. To top things off, I had a bout of sleep problems again last night and only got 1.5hours sleep.

I just need cheering up :/
I'm disappointed i'm going to be missing out :(

Unlucky, you could have met the future Mrs Nix at the gig. :( Now you might die alone.

lol, aint that drastic :p

It aint a huge deal but I do feel quite disappointed really. It's like the last thing to do with flatmates before they leave university too :/

I think i'm gonna go back to bed. I probably wont feel as crap with a little more sleep. Night, urm... morning. Whatever.

Cheer up matey

Com'n join my ships crew!! we stop at Plymouth next month bound for the open seas of the promised land and Tilbury.

:p

I was fortunate to see DM in the 80's - they were great !

It's gonna be in a night club or so i've heard. It's just a better idea for me to stay out of this one. Meh.

I'm sure your flatmates will help you out. It would be a shame to miss out on something like that for the sake of £20. You don't have to get wasted or anything, and I'm sure entry is free.

Who needs money? Unless there is an entry fee then just stick to tap water(who needs alcohol to have a good time?) that way you wont get a hang over, and it will still be an experience!

Im sure though if your at the bar and your friends all buy drinks and u say can i have a tap water, theyll pity you and buy you a pint!

Yea it's free, but I literally have about £40 to my name atm. £10 on petrol, £17-£20 on train + tube and that leaves me with a £10 to live off. Dipping into that £10 is just stupid. My flatmate told me they'd more than likely be going to some club and it'll probably cost some money. My flatmates can't help me out I don't think - plus, borrowing money only ever leads to fall-outs unless you trust the person without a doubt. I just hate scrounging - the only was my parents knew I was skint was because they saw my bank balance. At least with me not going i'll still be in pocket.

Well, they've just left and i've sent them a text wishing them a nice time. I can't sleep now because the sun is out so I think i'm gonna hit the pro-plus.

1.5hrs is not a sleep problem when you're worrying about something.

you should've gone, it'd have been a laugh - you dont have to drink everywhere you go!

I've had sleep problems since I was 17 mate. Like 3 years now, it comes and goes. It's gradually getting better I think. I should've gone, I agree, but it'd meant me being skint again and I don't fancy going down that road.

Thanks for the replies though :)

Lesson learnt, I used to have the same problems until I budgeted each month and used my money wisely.

lol, it's nothing to do with budgeting. I've managed to get myself some barwork now, but with no one getting back to me in regards of a job and more money going out on rent, fee's and food it was only going to end up in one place...

It is to do with budgeting, because there has bound to be some purchases etc from last month you probably regret having or something, and wish the money was still available for DM.

Do you have a savings account you can dip into, as a temporary bail?

Nah man. It's cool. I'm gonna miss this one out, I know that but I was under the impression i'd have to pay to get in to the after-show party. The idea I really didn't like was spending 90% of what I have left in the bank in one day.
