It is to do with budgeting, because there has bound to be some purchases etc from last month you probably regret having or something, and wish the money was still available for DM.

Do you have a savings account you can dip into, as a temporary bail?

Seriously man, i'm not going to go into detail - but it really has nothing to do with budgeting. I've had more money going out then coming in from student loan since day one and i've been living off my overdraft. I've been trying to get a job for ages. Before xmas, no one was taking anyone else on unless you could stay here over xmas. Since xmas, i've not really heard from anyone until very recently and I got a job in the union last Friday, but the union is closed until next term.

Can usally get tap water for free, and a coke you can make last a hour or two as your not drinking to get drunk. Plus it would only cost a fraction of the price of a JD+Coke for example.

yeah, but you can always prepare in advance. dont mean to sound harsh but it's totally about budgeting. you should know as a uni student that you're going to be seriously low on cash. if i'd have gone to uni, finding a job would've been the first thing i'd have done.

I was supposed to have had a store transfer from my old store to one down here but that fell through. I did try for a job before xmas, but no one would employ unless you would be here for xmas. I tried again after xmas, and finally ppl got back to me. I saved up about £700 before uni, that went too quick I think - mainly enjoying my first few weeks at uni, should've budgetted that really.

Look on the bright side, you don't have to spend the £30 on going to Depeche Mode, so you can spend it on other things.
4 pack of beer in front of the TV tonight? :D

I think i'm gonna be asleep long time before then :p
But yea, it aint all bad - just gutted i'm missing out is all.

I partially agree with what other people have said, but I think you've shown good self control by not going out and putting yourself in debt.

There will be plenty of other times that you can go out and have a good time.

So you let them all down on the day you were meant to be going? Hope they managed to find someone else to use the ticket eh.

You shoulda gone.

Any instead of sitting around on the PC today why not get in to town and find yourself a job?

Well, i've been up the local agency looking for temp work already. I didn't let them down because a) the ticket didn't cost any of us anything and b) one of my flatmates ex's lives in London and expressed an interest if I couldn't go. I let them know all week I was a maybe. It was all go until they finally told me how much they're expecting to spend etc

if that's your definition of looking for a job, then that'll be the reason you dont have one. if you were that low on cash you'd be looking EVERYWHERE. you need to get yourself motivated...i'd bet my left nut that there's at least one supermarket in your area that has at least one job going.

Expressed an interest? So did they go instead? I mean, you WERE until a few hours before everyone left! :)

Good luck getting a job, but agencies aren't the be all and end all you know..you should get yourself in to the shops or whatever and ask.

I've been handing out CVs for the past 3 weeks. The local sainsbury's and somerfield have my CVs too. I'm employed at the union now but I can't work there until next term, hence why i'm after temp work.

I'm pretty sure he'll go. He lives in London as he's doing work placement atm. He'll just meet them in Paddington I think.

I am sorry but I have to agree with Sic.

I am not sure about your area but there are loads of jobs in Bristol which would be perfect for students. I see them advertised everywhere.

Yes, how many CV's have you handed out in 3 weeks?

If it's a lot then perhaps your CV needs improving. If it's not a lot then hand more out.
