Hi ive just finished putting together my PC and when i turn it on i cant seem to get anything on the monitor, theres no signal.

I have used both adapters that came with the GTX 480, im not too sure what i have done wrong :(

Oh yeah sorry

Asus P6x58d-e
corasir Ax850 psu
6Gb mem
Evga GTX 480

What do you mean by model numbers?

What happens when you turn the PC on? Do you hear any fans?
Make sure the 4 pin for the CPU is connected and the 8 pin and 6 pin for the 480.

Did you plug in the cpu power connector? That could give the impression everything is on yet leave a blank monitor.

umm whats tha? i plugged in the cpu fans if that what you mean

have you tried using the PSU gfx leads?, 850 corsair should come with the 8pin and 6 pin if memory serves

yep tried that and the adapters. no luck :(

i even tried my geforce 6600 from my old pc and the fans dont even spin on that

the 4 pin for the cpu

That is what I meant, only suggestion because I have made that rookie error in the past. On your board it is an eight pin. If it isnt in right all the bells and whistles will start, but it will seem dead as your processor will be getting no juice- make sure it is in, and flush, but try not to force it.

Sorry to sound like such a noob but what/ where is the 4 pin? all i see in the manual is cpu fans and other fan channels. Yep got the 24 pin plugged in and the 8 pin

The eight pin is the one mate, its often referred to as a four pin.

Obviously check all connections first, make sure the 480 is seated right in the PCI slot (power down, unplug and mind your static before you try any of this- take your time).

From there, let us know exactly what happens when you hit the on switch-
Far as I can gather, your fans spin up and your mobo lights up, do you get any beeps?

i tried again but still nothing :(. is there any reasons as to why my geforce 6600 does not work at all? im just not too sure what i am missing.

edit* Oh, no beeps that i can hear either

no beeps, have you got a motherboard speaker plugged in? it's a tiny little piezo speaker with a two pin connector on the end

Ok I know this is a stupid question but go with me on this one...

If you didn't attach the speaker to the motherboard.....

....how are you going to hear the beep codes?

i used my earphones :) i thought it ight still work

There are only a few makes of motherboard that emit the beep codes out of the onboard sound. Most use a little plastic speaker that connects to the header pins on the motherboard near the power and reset cables.
