I need more hard disks

I have hard disks below

750Gb
750Gb
500Gb
32Gb
120Gb
270Gb (60 dvds burnt 60 * 4.5)

2152 + 270 = 2422 gb

more than 2.4Tb

I even deleted much data
It's still not enough

How about your computers?

Just replace the 32Gb & 120Gb with 2TB drives

I only have a 200Gb and 300Gb i think its more than i need.

^^ I used to think that too - until I started to get my main PC ready to double as a media server. Now the 1.5TB that seemed so capacious not long ago is very rapidly dwindling. It will run out long before all my media is copied and organised.

Tbh when you start looking at that kind of data volume I'd suggest sorting out either a NAS or stick some drives into an old PC to act as a file server.

What are the advantages of that over adding storage to your primary PC? Is it just avoiding loading the power consumption, or do you see other benefits from a NAS?

I'd like to look into that route someday, but it's so much more expensive than just swapping out a 120GB HDD for a 1TB one (which is what I'll be doing when I fill my current storage).

i have 4TB atm and its full up, infact had to put in 2 old 80gb drives to cover for overflow til i get money

.. gona get a 1.5TB in a week or so, and probably a 120gb SSD for os/apps

A lot of people tend to rip their entire DVD collection onto a harddrive, then they can watch it on TV from a streaming PS3.

All my storage drives are in my HTPC, I have all my DVDs ripped, TV series, music (smallish FLAC collection) and concert DVDs - nothing superfluous. Some seem to hoard stuff for no reason. Bear in mind HD films come in at 10gb, a HD rip of a tv series can take up 40gb etc.

I have 1x1tb, 2x 750gb, 2x 500gb and 1x320gb = 3.8tb

Though I'm nearly full, I'm doing some encoding now (I currently have a lot of VOB rips and full DVD folders) to save a bit of space on the TV series side, though I like to have my films with all sound sources etc. I'm waiting for the 2tb WD green drives to drop in price. 1tb isnt sufficient a jump for me to warrant, and I like how cool the WDGP drives run (my 1tb is a WDGP).

How much is a DVD auto-changer? Wouldn't that be easier than ripping films to hard disk?

Films ripped onto your disk take up a lot less physical space than they do in an auto-changer packed full of DVDs.

2.4 tb isnt really that much others have a lot more. I have 5tb in total well only 500gb in my pc...rest is in the home server...And thats running pretty low on space

I think I need to mention something

750Gb => external harddisk
750Gb => external harddisk
500Gb => internal harddisk used on the main system
32gb => intel ssd (I need one more for a raid system)
120gb => laptop harddisk

I have musics (all lossless), bd and hd rips, games and many animes also dramas

the 2.4tb capacity seems to be much however if you are more interested in hobbies using computer it is matter of time
