How would you setup my hard drives?

Hello,

I am in the process of building a new PC but before I go ahead and order everything, I need to pick your brains. How should I setup my hard drives?

In my build I want 2 x Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache drives (or more depending on your suggestions). Windows 7 is going to be my OS and I will be using the HDD’s mainly for downloading, but I also need some space for installing games and programs.

Do you prefer to use Raid 0 for quicker read and write, even though you could potentially lose all your data if one of the hard drives fails? Alternatively is Raid 1 or 5 a better option?

Would you recommend buying a small hard drive just for the OS and then have the other drives for downloading etc.?

Thanks!

My own preference is a small HD for the OS and a large for files.

I have a 1tb Sammy F3 which never gets over 200gb used as I use another storage drive, so I bought 500gb drives for the OS.

Raid 0 seems to offer absolutely no benefit at all in real life, though as I have two identical drives I would like to try it, but I am running into problems setting up Raid 0.
