I spent over £1k in total on my gaming PC recently however I never seem to use it for gaming, I instead prefer to do my gaming on the console

I can't really figure out why I prefer console, but I think it's because it's just easier. You don't have to mess with graphics settings or anything and it just works. The games certainly don't look as good or run as smooth though

Maybe some of you have a next gen console and never use it because of using pc for games instead

I'm just wondering if any one else here has a gaming pc which they don't really game on.....

Part of the fun for me is messing with the settings & having the ability to tweak & mod games to get them looking & running their very best.

I suspect most posters here will echo this sentiment but I can see where your coming from.

This is why they include pre sets low, med, high and ultra pick and play leave custom for people that like to tweak.

Simple really.

I play on all my systems except the XBox One (until Halo 5). The PC gets used the most for competitive games but I prefer games like Tomb Raider on the PS4 with a pad and the fiancée snuggled up on the sofa.

Most games I play on consoles with the exceptions of strategy games and RPGs which always seem to work better on a PC. So yeah that's pretty much my gaming habits.

I'm on the other-side of fence, just sold my PS4 because I never used it. I'm Still playing BF4 which has to be k+m so I've got that on PC and bought Mad Max recently for £11 (bargain) and use 360 pad on PC. I do understand why people like console's and lying back on sofa is great :)

Other way round for me. Have a very dusty PS3 sitting there, find it an absolute pain in the neck to use.

Firstly, there's probably someone using the TV already, whilst my PC is already turned on and ready to go. The controller drives me mad. And I can't see the details properly as I'm too far away from the TV, yet if I get closer the resolution looks dreadful.

And on the very rare occasion that I do decide to use it, it wants 30 mins to update itself, followed by 2+ hours to update whichever game I wanted to play. And if I wanted auto-downloading of patches, I'm meant to fork out for PS+ :/

I've got rid of the consoles since I've been able to hook up the PC to the TV, play with Xbox pads and Steam big picture.

The ability to now stream games over the home network with Steam has also played a part, I can play anywhere in the flat, on any screen so never have a problem gaming no matter who's using the living room TV. The consoles just don't stand a chance in my eyes in terms of the diversity that a PC offers.

Settings wise, if you want to know what each setting does just spend a couple of hours reading up on them; once you understand what they do you'll only spend 30 seconds in the options menu when you first start up a game.

The patching of games is now so easy compared to the old ways of downloading and manually installing.

For me it depends in what mood I am in really. If I am tired I would just hop on the xbox as it's just quicker and easier. My PC sometimes takes the P with constant crashing and having to tweak the settings etc.

I find PC far more versatile.

Firstly, the wealth of indie stuff you can get from places like Steam for almost no money.

Secondly, the unique stuff you can get into, like Kerbal Space Program (niche, but if it interests you it's incredible!!).

Thirdly, things like strategy games, Total War and the like that aren't released on consoles and if they were simply wouldn't work with a pad interface.

Plus, of course you can hook your PC up to the big TV, and play most 'big' games, at a distance with a pad from the sofa anyway!

Don't get me wrong. I have a PS4. I love it. There's room for both and each has strengths and weaknesses. IF I had to choose one, I'm sticking with the PC.

Also, grey area naughty stuff, like emulation.
A lazy Sunday with a beer and some PunchOut is a joy!

You're not wrong for picking your console over your PC. They're yours, the whole point is YOU should do what YOU enjoy most, but I think it's just a case of personal preference over there being one thing better than another....

In before someone insists FPS 'MUST' be keyboard and mouse.

Sure I find that a better experience, but I grew up with that. A lot of kids (probably not even kids anymore, I'm old!) grew up playing an FPS on a console and enjoy that every bit as much.
Sure, a keyboard player vs a pad player is always going to win because the mouse is so much more refined and responsive, but we don't play like that.
It's always KB&M players playing KB&M players on the PC, and pad players playing pad players on consoles. The control systems are always a level playing field, and having played both, the level of enjoyment is the same.

If you have a good PC, The ONLY single reason to ever use a console, is exclusive games that are not on PC. You can use a controller and plug your PC into your TV and you have a console but its 60fps and much better graphics. You can even have both Xbox one and PS4 controllers. No reason to ever use a console except for exclusive games. Why would you want to play tomb raider at crappy graphics and 30fps (probably I don't know), when you can play it on PC with the same controller but 60fps, better graphics and 8xAA or DSR. I enjoy tweaking graphics settings so maybe that is the difference.

Aside from all the usual points, I will say one thing about consoles is that they are much more gaming focused and therefore there are much less distractions. When I turn on one of my consoles I know I will be playing a game, on pc I often get distracted by emails, Internet, ocuk etc!

I find the PC as hassle free as the consoles, with new releases I only need to spend a few minutes tweaking things and that's usually it. Steam automatically updates my games for me and drivers in this day and age are largely a non-issue, I've got both of the current gen consoles for their exclusives and the PC for its exclusives and multiplatform titles. For people who want to play on the sofa it's as simple as connecting an HDMI cable to a TV and deciding which controller to use so I've never understood the argument against PC gaming in that regard.

really the only reason I love pc over consoles is I love just alt tabbing and having a quick browse on the web, especially when i play stuff like hearthstone and secondly I just hate game pads, i could never play a fps with a pad since ive been using keyboard and mouse for like 10 years, and ofc im addicted to cs lol

I use PC, purely because my PC and TV are right next to each other. Nothing on the PS4/Xbox excite me that much. So it's easy enough to turn on my xbox pad and use the TV if I ever feel the need.

Plus I have my Wii U for some console fixes.
