I predict we're going to see dramatic improvements from AMD

I'm not a fanboy, I just don't like nVidia :p

To answer your question, I've had a play of Farcry 3 for a few hours, though I haven't tried it on 3 screens yet (couldn't be bothered enabling Eyefinity for the game, and can't stand using Eyefinity for desktop use).

Maxed out at 2560x1440 I was getting 70-80FPS most of the time with peaks of around 100.

Fair point. Underhand tactics are not everyones cup of tea. I take it AMD have a fix for the X79 and crossfire issue now that plagued AMD owners for months and months?

For now ;)

And whilst you are fiddling about with drivers/caps/AB/Trixx and anything else you need to fiddle with, us Nvidia owners are deep into our games :D

So is everyone else??

I have owned dozens of cards in the last few years,a combination of both Nvidia and AMD,they have as much issues as each other, basically not that many.

Non-techies go onto forums and see all these "massive" issues with gaming PCs,and end up with consoles instead. I have seen it enough times.

Easy tiger, it was meant as light hearted.

It seems so, what's not clear is where the issue even came from, but that obviously comes second place to the fact that it's sorted.

Speaking of 3930Ks, you're using XSPC cooling? Are you possibly using Raystorm block?

I'm running mine watercooled and the temps are a bit odd. The temperature difference across cores is a bit weird, like idle I can get 21c on one core and 29c on another.

Does that sound right? There seems to be the same difference with load temps too, 51 on the the coolest core and 59 on the hottest.

On my i7 3770K core '0' runs at a good 5-7c cooler than the rest.

They're the same while idle though.

I get the same temp readings. I also thought it was odd but after scouring around, it is the same for everyone. I have no fans running on my 360 and the fans on my 240 are running at ~650rpm and my hottest core is 36c (core 0) and my coldest core is 27c (core 1).

You can get temperature differences between the cores, Seems ok to me.

What sort of load temps do you get?

I ran my 360 radiator passively for a bit and it seems to cope decently well considering.

I am considering getting a 480 radiator to put in the bottom of the case with a few low RPM fans too.

Money pit! Though to be fair, I ended up saving about £400 by buying smart. I got my GAX79-UD5 for Just over £140 for example  :p

Oh cool, thanks. It's good to know it's okay. Just a shame they don't all run at 21c idle. :p

I will only run it passively on stock and it never goes above 55C in games. When overclocked @ 5Ghz @ 1.495V, it never goes above 70C with all fans on full. My everyday clock is 4.6 @ 1.34V and for this I have the fans on ~800 rpm and again temps sit around 65C.

I had issues with the first time I did my watercool loop and this was down to an air bubble caught in the block.

I'll have to go and play with overclocking later. I'd be happy with 4.5Ghz for every day use really. A 3930K at 4.5Ghz is a big step up over a Q6600 at 3.5Ghz.

How did you find out that you had air in your waterblock, and how did you get it out?

My temps seemed a little high and I gave the case some more shaking but made no odds, so I assumed I had done something wrong. I looked at many videos of cooling and one of them said about getting bubbles caught in the block, so I tried again but tipped the case completely on its right side (so the CPU block was now the top) stood the case back up and immediately temps were 10C lower. Stubborn buggers some of them bubbles. Also to note, when I opened the res cap, it gave a little hiss (trapped air).

Your temps are fine though. if they are that good on idle, you have no worries :)
