I quit WoW.

So after 3 years of playing it and falling short of dowing Brutallus, I've decided to close the curtains on this game and its social aspect that kept me glued to it for a long long time. I deleted all my chars (incase I got tempted) and cancelled my account. I'm almost fearing my gaming life after WoW. Is there anything else I missed in MMO's or normal RPG's that's worth digging into ?

This is all odd.
You quit WoW and felt you had to delete charactors, but now you want to know about other MMO's on the market?
Why not just go back to WoW and have no life? Better the devil you know. LOL! The whole WoW thing is just crazy.

Grats for quitting, its a drug once you get into the higher content! Finished SWP on my shadowpriest, realised exactly how much time Id been spending on the game, and quit. Yes, the social aspect of the game is great, and first kills are indeed euphoric, but to be honest, spending the amount of time that some people do on the game isn't healthy (from experience!)

WoW just capitalizes on our materialistic greed, that's why most people love it. ;)

You know what ive never thought of that :)

its prob why it draws in a lot of young players. I have the best, NO I do, NO I DO, NO ME, NO ME, NO ME and so on :D

(ps im not implying that all young players are like this...... just the majority)

i quit full time playing, due to work, but it got me unaddicted. also the fact my mage armour fom MC was made useless in BC within 1-2 levels kind of hurt after spending so long getting it. now lvl 80 is around the corner is it worth getting the lvl 70 stuff..hmm...

Plus the guild i was in, crumbled, so now im running about almost solo lol... so not really a game for me anymore. shame, had some good fun in that game, hope i get the same from warhammer.

ColiN - daggerspine server - DeathRow guild if anyone is curious :)

That, and our love of completely OTT shoulder pads:D

I want them to make shoulder pads with two dead gnomes strapped to them...and the odd bolt of lightning.

As for WoW, never found it much of a grind...but then I tend to a little instance rather than a 5-hour stint in some big dungeon like the Black Temple.

I use WoW as more a bit of fun now, the odd pvp...odd instance nothing big. I got Warhammer...played 20 hours of it in a week...and just am bored now, it's just kill this, find that, get this armour...move onto a new tier. Maybe it's the fact i work now (i didn't when i grinded in wow) and just tied :P

I'll never say one is better than the other, got to try both yourself to make a decision. Warcraft just hits all the right points in a MMO for me and WAR doesn't. Only game I wish they'd update is Ultima Online...it's EA owned...come and get into the 21st century! :P

Enjoy real life, WoW is just a mass grind after the initial fun of leveling :), the time sink is ridiculous compared to the majority of the other games (well, apart from champ manager 99/00 :D). That said, never got S4 shoulders on my huntard before i stopped  qq.

the first day i played WoW, i knew it would carry me for years, my friend said this game is very dangerous, it is too good, it feeds us too much of what we need. i said you are right, there is something about the game that is all captivating on a strange level.

i decided to quit, and so did he after 2 weeks of play. after about a month, i found out he is back in the game, and he begs me to play, i join him, and 3 years later we are still in it, our minds rotting more and more, our bodies rotting, our relationships on stand still, our mind held in stasis. so much attention devoted to what is happening on our monitors, we are building nothing in life, we are setting ourselves back years with the behaviour.

but it didnt matter, aslong as we could AFK in ironforge and talk to friends about superficial activities within game that arent satisfying at all, yet we have no motivation to detour from it. blizzard did a good job screwing a lot of people up. they say many kids will need psychologists to help them after they have quit the game to get back to reality.

I think you have a serious problem if you are telling the truth.

I did the same when sunwell came out. Just another grind fest with different mobs. I managed to stay off mmos for about 6/7months but now having just bought warhammer online i can safely say im hooked again. BUY IT!

I've taken a massive break from it while we wait for the next expansion.

Although there is a part of me that misses playing it, I mostly don't miss it at all.
It just eats time.

I think when WotLK does come out, I'll be much more reserved about my play style.

Should've sold your account. Got £200 for mine last year and that was with fairly average raiding gear.

Grats on quitting though. Best thing I ever did.
