I suck at UT3

Keep moving, constantly and not in straight lines, jump all the time even whilst shooting, it doesn;t matter if you miss tbh. Oh and don't camp with the sniper rifle, use impact jumps (with impact hammer), never fail to appreciate how good the flak cannon is, bioshoot everywhere if and only if it's the only weapon you have, use rockets as grenades if you can't see anyone down a drop or hallway and keep practising. Realise that at first you will die a zillion times for every kill, it doesn't matter though. And practice offline with the occassional match with the bots as 'godlike'.

Hope that helps.

Ok so I'm new to playing FPS online so I guess I'm having trouble adjusting to REAL targets, and I did only get UT3 yesterday. But I'm really having trouble trying to hit people
The game moves so fast before I know it I've got a rocket up my ****!
And why does everyone jump around all the time surely thats cheating?
Anyone got any tips? And don't say jump around all the time :D

Get a game with a bit slower game play if your starting out, Battlefield 2 or COD4.

1: Never stand still
2: Know your weapons!! (long range, short range etc)
3: Learn where the Health pickups are
4: Know where people run to and anticipate their moves (i.e: Spam a corner :p)

Pretty much spot on that. The rest just comes naturally. Not played UT for ages until i got the latest one. Back down to Adept level :(

Try TF2 - you can be one of various styles in that. I like medic - makes a change from shooting everyone and can boost your team

Thanks for the replies and advice guys. Truth is Iv'e been playing FPS for years and only just decided to give multiplayer a go (yes I know I should have tried it ages ago) and I can't believe how much fun it is! So far I've tried fear which was pretty cool and crysis which was ok, but even though I'm pretty lame at UT3 as its ridiculously fast I can't help but feel compelled to master it! Ah well.

So if anyone goes online and finds an opponent called "Thresh0ld", prepare for some serious pwnage (or not as the case may be)

yup its fun indeed. I'll add you to my friends list...my name there is gurusan as well.

Not cheating, they are avoiding the shots, I tend to spend too much time stood still or running straight lines and getting shot but with practice you will get there

TF2 > UT3 imo

in terms of gameplay anyway

obviously ut3 has better graphics

TF2 has great graphics which fit the style perfectly. You are comparing different types of games though (I realise theyre both FPS but they set out to do different things).

I can see why people who prefer games like TF2, CSS dont like UT3 mind as it does have a steep learning curve.

UT3 definately does take some getting used to though, on games like CoD4, CSS, TF2 etc. I could come pretty high up in the servers, in UT3 (only got it a few days ago) I'm coming middle to bottom :(

yeah dodging but not sure if there is a cheat for doing that. I believe a guy sells cheats through a website somewhere and you can get auto aimers and stuff like that.

Dodging by double tapping direction keys or generally jumping are very common dodge tactics though and I do struggle shooting when people are dodging and very quickly become an easy target

if your new to the UT series id suggest starting a campaign (you can do it online if you dont want to do it alone :))

Used to play UT a good few years ago and going through the campaign does help but at the moment nothing prepares you for the speed at which some guys play at expecially when servers are full

well...id join empty'ish server first (unless you backwards like me) and find full games easier then emtpy games LOL
