I think I am a console convert...

Not yet had the 360 a week, but am really enjoying it. I just get so tired of sitting behind the PC, cause I do that all day at work, and while I am just staring at another screen... well, it just doesn't feel like sitting at work :)

I have yet to try a first person shooter (Though I did have a brief go at the suffering in first person, and was quite hard to control - cool game though), but am enjoying the change by getting away from fps games. Is pretty much all I have played for ages.

It looks great on my new 37" HD tele, after initially thinking it did not look great on my od 28" SD tele.

Hell, even the dated graphics of the original Xbox games does not bother me, whereas for some reason on the PC, I always feel the need to crank everything up...

If after another week or so I am finding I am not getting bored with the console, think I will be downgrading my pc and using it simply for things other than games. Though I really do need to try an FPS first....

Whats a good FPS that won't be too expensive now? Spent a hell of a lot on games in the last few days! Something not too old if possible...

Anyway, so I guess I am saying I have seen the light - consoles aren't all that bad :)

Bioshock
Call of Duty 2
Call of Duty 4
The Darkness
Rainbow Six: Vegas
Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter
Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2
Gears of War
Halo 3

Those are all great, I'd recommend The Darkness and Bioshock firstly though :).

Played R6:Vegas on PC... While not a big fan of WWII games, I might give COD2 a try.

How about Halo? Has the game aged well? Never played any of the Halo games.

Edit: hate it when am slow to type and more replies come up :)

Anyway, played on PC:
COD4
Bioshock
R6:Vegas
Prey
GRAW
GRAW 2

I have GOW coming this week, though I believe its third person?

Third person is very much the same as first person bar the camera angle, but 3rd person allows you to do things like hug walls etc.. so I wouldn't worry about that.

Try The Darkness then, that's a very good game.
Personally I'd start Halo from the first (and best IMO) one, and work your way through the trilogy. If you're happy with old games like you say, this shouldn't be a problem.

Also, I know it's not a FPS, but if you've not played Fahrenheit, get that :). Like a kid in a candy shop with Backwards Compatibility :).

Console gaming is as good as PC gaming now as much choice in games, online play, downloadable content etc.

I would agree with all of the above bar online play, sometimes xbox live and psn are just unbearable to use solely down to this new fangled matchmaking rubbish and god awful p2p games...

PC gaming wipes the floor on consoles for online play.

I'm not entirely sure I agree with you. If Xbox360 had dedicated servers then it would do everything better in relation to online. Dedicated servers is the only advantage PC online gaming has.

Im a console convert too!! The PC was totally boring, I thaught Y the **** do I keeop playing the same FPS, the same map with muppets on teamspeak I dont even like anymore. So I sold all my games & bought a ps3!, im loving it!

Fully star your swearing.

Cool :D

Now I just need to keep myself from buying a PS3 too. Its almost fustified when I think of the price of HD players... however, I was not going to buy an HD player based on prices.... so really, I shouldn't get one.... but maybe

Perhaps if I am still enjoying consoles at the end of year will get one for Xmas :D

Speaking of The Darkness.. I just got that game but keep dieing in the first fight scene on Hard mode :(

@ffallic: PC only has two gaming advantages over console: FPS and RTS (and maybe RPG). Consoles can do racing, FPS, RPG, action/adventure and more, on par or better than on PC. So yes I think you're making the right choice.
Although personally I'm keeping my high-end rig for RTS games (fav genre) ;)

So you enjoy having games d/c because the host leaves half way through a game, or getting put onto servers that are full of yanks who sound like they have just had their nuts put into a vice? With dedicated servers you can pick something that is not going to go down every half an hour or so and at least you can pick servers that are what YOU want to play, not what the stupid matchmaking process takes you.

It really annoys me having to pay £40 a year for something that picks for you to play not something that you want to play yourself.

Not to mention the god awful skill level of some of the players that are on CoD4 at least the servers on PC are of high skill level with good banter, I have yet to find one on the 360 or PS3 so far.

/rant over

Sounds like a load of crap. So only good COD4 players play the PC version, and the bad 360? LOL

Ridiculous.

Lets just say, they both have their strengths :D

While I may downgrade my PC a bit, I don't think I could completely drop it as a gaming platform. I might stick my e4300 back in and sell my Q6600, and may drop to a 3850 Pro, but there are still things I want to play on the PC, so don't think I will ever say goodbye to it.

I just think I might be spending a bit more time on the console for a while. I am sick to death of computers, and while the 360 is a computer in disguise, its a very good disguise, and I can use it from the sofa :D

That, combined with my renewed interest in reading may mean I may grow to enjoy my PC again some day. Right now though, just need a break from it - have not turned on my PC in two days :)

I should have stated in general not just too CoD4. For example I couldn't see people going from PGR4 or Forza 2 on the 360 matching times on Live for Speed.

When I used to play Raven Shield on PC to a very high level I find Call of Duty 4 very tame and very easy, I bet a lot of people on consoles wouldnt know where to start. Not to mention there is little to no banter on the 360 at least on PC the playing field I was used to was very competitive and had great banter on vent.

Another vote for COD4, I used to hate FPS on the consoles due to being inept with a control pad, but COD4 is just so much fun on the 360, i cant resist it, and you will get better with practice over time :)

I feel the same, not played the pc since before xmas, cut my gaming time down by 80%, play ps3 abit and still got a shed load of games to play on my wii. I think I have finally hit the balance between a social life and gaming :p

The ps3 has been very good I have been playing uncharted a lot, Assassins Creed is also very good but needs a few solid consective hours of play, something I intend to do all saturday, after the gym of course!

Very impressed with the games I have on ps3, and I kknow have it as a second blu-ray player too.

Gonna buy GT:Prologue from the japanese playstation store saturday.

I did say bar dedicated servers, which would eliminate everything you said there bar voice (which you can mute - and is also a problem on PC games).
You can also custom find games on Xbox Live... Matchmaking is an option.

The fact you said what you did (being so uninformed) leads me to believe you've not done a very good job of trying it or are purely talking on hear-say.
