I think I am a console convert...

So you enjoy having games d/c because the host leaves half way through a game, or getting put onto servers that are full of yanks who sound like they have just had their nuts put into a vice? With dedicated servers you can pick something that is not going to go down every half an hour or so and at least you can pick servers that are what YOU want to play, not what the stupid matchmaking process takes you.

It really annoys me having to pay £40 a year for something that picks for you to play not something that you want to play yourself.

Not to mention the god awful skill level of some of the players that are on CoD4 at least the servers on PC are of high skill level with good banter, I have yet to find one on the 360 or PS3 so far.

/rant over

Create your own player match and play how you want? it's not always about ranked games IMO, relax a little, play for fun, you are deciding to use matchmaking, it is not imposed on you.

When I used to play Raven Shield on PC to a very high level I find Call of Duty 4 very tame and very easy, I bet a lot of people on consoles wouldnt know where to start. Not to mention there is little to no banter on the 360 at least on PC the playing field I was used to was very competitive and had great banter on vent.

You're talking utter garbage.
Firstly there is lots of banter on Xbox360, expecially as almost all the consoles come with headsets which are widely used. Secondly, you talk of online banter through a SEPERATE program to the game (Ventrilo) where you have to connect to a specific chat server to talk to people, however, if you're talking to people in the game through this seperate program then you would already know all the people in the chat server already (likely through clan play) so comparing random people per game to a pre-defined seperate chat server with people you already know are two totally different things.

I should have stated in general not just too CoD4. For example I couldn't see people going from PGR4 or Forza 2 on the 360 matching times on Live for Speed.

Rubbish, I know plenty of people who are quick on console racers, as they are on rFactor and GTR.

I did say bar dedicated servers, which would eliminate everything you said there bar voice (which you can mute - and is also a problem on PC games).
You can also custom find games on Xbox Live... Matchmaking is an option.

The fact you said what you did (being so uninformed) leads me to believe you've not done a very good job of trying it or are purely talking on hear-say.

Firstly, where is the function that turns off match-making in Call of Duty 4 that will continue on with ranking? I know you can create private play but I would like to continue so I can get a level 55. And in terms of not using the service enough.. it takes 10 minutes to get a level 53 no?

And as for being 'uninformed' or doing not a 'good-job' of it, what are you trying to say, its either hard for people to use the system or is that to be portrayed as a personal attack? ****

It makes me laugh when I read people saying PC gamers are so much more higher skilled than console players or vice versa. Its such utter rubbish. Half the people out there use both anyway. Why do people say such stupid comments is beyond me.

PC gaming has much more of a competitive circuit, loads of big tournaments and cash prizes. Hence a lot of top players or "high skilled" players play the games. In terms of skill id say pc gaming requires more, for example in FPS games on the pc they won’t have auto aim but on console games they will. Most recent console games dont have full blown auto aim but they have some sort of tracking to help the player due to the fact the joy pad isn’t as responsive as a mouse and keyboard. In that respect yes pc gaming is more skillful.

Im a console and PC gamer myself and on the whole pc gaming is much more skillful but if you just want something to pick up and play consoles are great.

Played GOW last night... pretty cool! I know I could have got it for PC, but this was always THE game to get a 360 for originally, so just went for it.

It looks better than I thought it would. I set the 360 to run 720p, rather than 1080p as noticed some slow-down, but 720p looks brill, so not complaining. Is there a difference performance-wise between 1080i and 1080p? I imagine not, but thought would ask.

I am struggling with the aiming on the rigth analogue stick... why did they never introduce a tackball of some sort on the controllers? I think that would solve all aiming problems...

Am loving the game though. Got told off for having it too loud :D

A trackball? As in like the Mice you can get from Microsoft? That would be awful! Analogue stick is perfect imo.

Protip: Most PC games have built in voice chat, CoD4 included.

Ventrilo is just better for clan matches and organization through channels and so on.
I'm not entirely sure I agree with you. If Xbox360 had dedicated servers then it would do everything better in relation to online. Dedicated servers is the only advantage PC online gaming has.
Not really, Xbox Live is still reliant on the Live servers where as PC gaming is unaffected, if one master server goes down then that's one game you can't play, not every game.

PC online gaming on the whole is just a better experience, the only downside is the lack of microphones in general, but keyboard chat works well anyway and is a laugh, microphones are becoming more and more common I find.

Xbox Live has never been as good since the original Ghost Recon anyway tbfh, no games since then (bar Rainbow Six 3 and Halo 2) have been anywhere near as gripping. :o
