I think i found the problem...

...been trying to figure out for the last few days why my neww rig randomly crashes and shuts down (always does this when i go to play games). but anyway i got memtest the bootable version and the test is scanning atm but the test has already shown up 57 errors....can they be fixed or do i have to RMA?

Have you set the timings and voltage to the manufacturers recommended settings in the BIOS?

i cannot see how to change the settings in these particular bios (from the Asrock 7775 Dual VSTA) could someone please tell me how.

the board manual is god awful and basically only tells you how to connect everything up. will have to check the online manual i think it's better...

Before you change anything make sure you know how to reset the BIOS.

DRAM CAS Latency :- 4
Precharge to Active (Trp):- 4
Active to CMD (Trcd) :- 4
Active to Precharge (Tras) :- 12

Your RAM will take upto 2.3V and make sure that you're RAM is at 400MHz or less.

you cant set a specific voltage on the DUAL board, its pretty crippled for options. and this may be a case of either this "bad batch" of the GeIL ram thats been spoken about recently or the instabilities of the DUAL motherboard with newer kit. or a combination of both.

ok i did those settings and it didn't work at all it got to the windows logo but crashed before i got to the welcome screen any ideas?

seems like another problem with the ASrock motherboard and new DDR2 memory..

what can i do then? i intend to get a new mobo but don't have any cash for it atm, wanting a gigabyte ds4 or something like that
