i did the same about 2 year ago ish made a tidy little sum when all was said and done. its amazing the crap that builds up through time especially silly impulse buys.

never a truer saying.. one mans junk is an others treasure.

To add, after my divorce I wanted rid of a 3 seat sofa, so I put it on Gumtree.

Within 45 minutes of the listing I had a message and had agreed the sale. The chap turned up with his father and a van, and they took it that evening. Cash in hand... lovely stuff.

The funniest ones are the facebook selling pages, people haggle you down to a ridiculous amount, then when you reluctantly agree just to get it over with they ask if you can deliver...

Aaaaaand I remember now why I don't use Gumtree. I put a 750ti Twin Frozr on there. Almost brand new, box, packaging, the lot. 5 months warranty left. £85. I was thinking if I get 70 for it I'll be happy.

Half a day of questions later, has it been over clocked, where can we meet, etc etc.

"I can offer £40".

Yeah. Get stuffed.

Had another one offer 50. That just irritates me. Stop wasting my time.

Quick update.

After those two idiots were told to get stuffed, one chap got in touch and asked a few questions about the card, asked for more photos, etc. I told him all he wanted to know, sent some pics, he asked what ny lowest price was, I said 75, he said 70 and he came round on Sunday to collect it. Done deal, pretty good. This one was Gumtree.

This afternoon I sold a Thermaltake Berlin 730w PSU which is pretty much brand new. I started the listing at £29 and it sold for £25.91, which I'm content with. except now I get a message asking if I can wait until Tuesday for payment. This was ebay.

It seems that selling stuff depends entirely on what you have, how much your time and peace of mind means to you and your tolerance levels of idiots (of which mine is so bad it's probably a negative number).

I've given him the benefit of the doubt and will wait until Tuesday but I can't see me bothering with this again, too much hassle and frustration for very little money.

Once I started digging and evaluating what I could get rid of, I'm amazed at how easily I spend money on crap, really eye opening. Certainly something to be learned here.

I did similar literally this last week (thanks to the car issue you are aware of)

Its amazing what stuff you can accumulate, and then also let go of!

We live in a reasonable house, but storage space is always an issue so I am trying to let go of my older hoarding ways now.

Ebay is good for selling Ice axes this week, I had 238 views, 80 watchers and 3-4 keen bidders.

Eurgh.

"Can you cancel this please".

So I delay the payment by almost a week only for him to waste my time and ask to cancel the sale.

I don't know what I was thinking with ebay, expecting anything different from the usual idiots on there.
