I'm currently at the CES show in Vegas, and i can tell you, as a plasma die hard fan, who's been distraught at the fact that plasma has left the market for the last three yrs, that a solution is very nearly in the hands of the consumer.
My jaw dropped at the latest OLED 4k panels from the likes of Samsung and especially LG.
Never in my life have i seen colors and clarity as good as what i saw at the show.
Plus this set was only 2.7mm thick. It was a jaw dropping experience.
It'll probably cost a bomb, but hey at least there's a solution that'll replace plasma.
Well, yesterday i finally bit the bullet and parted with the dosh for an LG 65EF950V (gulp) 65 inches of OLED flat screen goodness. It should be delivered on saturday, i just hope i don't come to regret it. The old Panny can now see out it's days in the bedroom.
we still have 3 plasma tvs in use in the house, all Panasonics - a 50PZ70, 37PX70 and 37PX600. requires a small power station to power them though!
I think all the Panasonic Plasmas, be them the Pro or Consumer ranges are built very well
I payed a little over 6k for my 2 pioneer plasma's all them years ago..The first things I've seen that I think compete with that are the latest OLED screens - they are simply stunning!
Cost a fair whack though...
