Hey all,

After finishing the addiction of WoW, my MMORPG cravings have come back. I really miss all the feelings I got when I started playing WoW, and tbh, I don't want to go back into that game.

As I enjoy life on the outside world, I thought maybe I could play a MMORPG which doesn't require much demand to get an item/key/orwhateverelsethereis.

I was thinking something along the lines of Guild Wars....? What's the basis on this game? What is there todo? Isit free play?

I don't want to play StarWars/Runescape or anything else. Just really interested in Guild wars.

Compared to WoW how would you rate it?

Thanks all.

Wait for Warhammer online, though i doubt it will be free roaming like WoW, i like to move around rather than combo and button smashing.

Never played GW myself, been told it's a good game although not a "real mmorpg"... no monthly subs... u do need to buy the game though.

WAR is going to be more addictive than WOW. :D

Warhammer Online looks like WoW/GW in one. Looks Interesting, but I'd rather try GW out first before Warhammer comes out.

Is GW even worth trying out?

gw is fun, played that solidly for about 18 months

get nightfall its the best chapter, then propheices and the new addon eye of north forget the 2nd chapter i hardly touched it in fact cant even remember its name , lol

What do these chapters do? Just add new content?

3 separate games really that if you own all 3 you can play characters from each chapter in each one You can play 1 or all 3 but need at least 1 to play eye of the north the new addon for LVL20 chars

I see, so I'd have to play 3 diff game with 3 chars? Or can I keep the one and go through each of the 3?

No you don't.... trust me.

Say goodbye to your family, friends and life if you do.

oh shut up, I've played mmo's since Asherons Call darktide and I'm married, have a good job, managed to learn another language, have a 2 year old daughter and a healthy social life.

Not everyone locks themselves in a closet role playing elves you know ...

Sorry mate didn't mean to offend, I was just going off my experiences with WoW, I too have a good job, have 3 little girls and a healthy social life etc.

But I did find WoW taking up more and more of my spare time, at first it was fine, just a couple of hours a night at most, but after a while once I started raiding and running a guild I was doing 40+ hours a week.

It was my eldest's birthday, I asked her what she wanted for her birthday, and she said "I want you to stop playing that game for just one day".

That was it for me, deleted it immediately and sold my toons, I will never play a mmorpg again to that extent.

I should have pointed out that it doesn't HAVE to take over your life, but it so very easily can do!

Without a doubt they can dominate your time and it wasn't too rare for me to see the message in Guildwars that read 'you have now been playing for 20 hours please take a break'. MMOs are a gaming crack like no other.

Don't really see why you even posted your original comments, the OP quite clearly has experience of MMORPG'S and specifically said he doesn't want to do as you think he will, either you stopped reading his post after the thread title or just plain ignored it, I'm not disagreeing with you just pointing out the complete irrellevance to the OP's thread.

Anyway, back on topic, Everquest 2 may be worth a look, as long as you stay away from raiding (and even if you don't you can still do that casually) it is very solo friendly these days and there is no real need of the top end gear for casual play.

Rubbish

I've played EVE on and off for 4 years now and it's never had that effect on me.

To be honest, EVE would be quite a good option for you as although you can get a lot out of it if you put in a lot of effort, you don't have to play that way. It can be quite relaxing when you just take it easy :)
