Hey Guys

I am looking to improve our gaming surface range.

I want to know what gaming surface you use and why?

hard mat/soft mat? a combo of both?

let me know if we don't stock something

a link to the manufacturer product page would be useful if it is a product we don't already sell.

Thanks

Rich

I currently using the Krypton dual sided mat as its a perfect match for the Krypton mouse.

Before that was the S+S hard surface mat with a Logitech G5, this was also a perfect combo.

Still using my Icemat gen 2. If anyone makes a glass mousemat, if you stock it I will buy it.
I have a Slamepad which is alright but it's not as good.
I like my Icemat because it's easy to clean, won't wear out (owned this for 7 years and it glides good as new when cleaned) and my mice have all tracked excellently on it - had two Logitech G5's, a G500 briefly, an MX418, and two Qpad 5K's, plus some assorted older optical mice. With decent mouse feet (currently using Qpad Glidz) it feels amazing, and it doesn't really eat feet too badly, I usually change them every 6 months or so. Not a fan of soft mousemats, nor plastic surfaces or other hard pads.

I use the Steelseries something med size, it was around a tenner so it was reasonably priced, I'd prefer something slightly thicker however. I would be interested in the new logitech stuff they're releasing that they shown at PAX

I use a Steelseries QcK+ Heavy, mainly have it as heavy because of being at LAN having the thickness of this pad cover the uneven surface helps a lot when playing at competitions on the typical table of death.

Still using a 10yr old Everglide prosurface 2.52, it's a hard surface mat with different textures on each side. It reviewed really well back then! it a pretty decent pad, nice and smooth (on the smooth side) and not a dust magnet. Turns out Everglide have since disappeared so guess it's a collectors item now :) Been meaning to buy a desk sized gaming surface but not got around to it yet.

Currently using a Razer Goliathus soft mouse pad. Was always supposed to be a temporary thing but I've ended up having now nearly a couple if years. Mind you I've one of the OcUK XXL surfaces all ready to go when I eventually move house and get my man cave set up.

I have a boogie bug and my flatmate bought one when he saw mine too. Now mine's getting a bit worn so I might replace it with one of your 120x60 surfaces but i hope it glides as well as the boogie bug did, can you comment?

I dont. I just use the table - never saw any advantage in a gaming surface.

I bought one of your boogie bugs on offer years ago and the amount of bits/dust/etc that got stuck to it in the first hour - i couldnt believe - so its been back in its tube ever since.

I'm currently using a boogie bug xl mat love how it covers my entire desk allowing me to use my mouse on any area I wish,I can't comment too much on how the glide and feel is as this is my first mouse mat!but it feels very nice the mice I've had all seen to glide smoothly with very little friction and all mice have been precise with no glitchy behaviour, its a decent thickness not to thin or fat however it does like dust!(but In a strange way I like this gives me a reason to keep my gaming paradise clean!)

+1 for the glass surface, I use an Icepad Gen 2 which I understand became a SteelSeries product. Fantastic and really long lasting, so easy to clean. Looks like they are not made any more which is a great shame.

Andi.

Icemat changed their name to Steelseries and they then made the Experience I-2, which was basically an Icemat Gen 2 with a Steelseries logo, but that was years ago. They've been out of production for ages now :( think I got mine just as the name change was going on, at a guess they've not been made for about 5-6 years.
Like you say, they're so long lasting, clean up great with ordinary polish, and there's just nothing out there that is a decent replacement.

Nice to see another Icemat user though, we seem to be quite few and far between!

I use a Steelseries cloth mat - I've tried all kinds of mousemats and I have to say I like this one the most. It feels comfortable to use, the underside grips the desk so it doesn't move around a lot, and the surface is just right for my gaming purposes (the mouse doesn't glide, and it doesn't need too much force to move comfortably). It came for free with my Collector's Edition of Rift so it's probably just a bog standard Steelseries mousemat, but it does the job so well. Wasn't expecting much out of it going by the quality of mats I've received in Collector's Editions in the past (Blizzard, I'm looking at you and your tacky mats), but if this is indicative of the quality from Steelseries, it's definitely the brand I'll be getting for my next replacement as the image and colour is starting to wear off from my current one.

Also, since I can roll the mousemat up or just tuck it into a pocket on my backpack, it means less bulky things to pack up for LANing at other people's houses.
