I wish the EU would FOAD!

So many people here are too stupid to actually read the article before they hop on the crybaby bandwagon.
I wish the UK would leave the EU already just to watch you beg your way back in again.

Beg back in to pay 52m a day, have unelected foreigners telling us how to live, I'll miss that.

Trouble is, go to any dump!

You will see skiploads of dead Dysons!

There is absolutely no point in having "Efficient" machinery if it is at the expense of durability and reliability (Or even ease/cost of repair!)

What a load of tripe. I have had my Dyson since 2003 and until last year was working fine. Last year the motor failed, which for something that is used everyday is pretty exceptional. I got a brand new motor from Ebay for £25, fitted it myself and all has been good so far. Might even get another motor as a spare for when this one dies in 9 years time. I would rather buy a new motor for £25 than spend hundreds on a new cleaner.

Having been a former asthma and bronchitis sufferer, it sounds like a terrible idea to me.

As others have pointed out, because there's absolutely no incentive to increase efficiency the amount of power used and the dust lifting ability aren't necessarily linked.

So what would this mean for my beloved Henry? Would he be illegal? Or have to be fiddled with? :(

The legislation is for new hoovers, so anything which has already been sold is fine. The manufacturer will just have to make sure new versions of Henry comply with the legislation (do they still make those things? I remember my parents having one years ago!).

Cutting power usage seems such a backwards thinking way of reducing environmental damage to me. Surely the way forwards is to invest properly in environmentally friendly energy sources/bring in legislation that forces everyone to make use of it.

All this sort of thing is likely to do is inibit innovation (except in making things more efficient, but why do we want that?)

Thing is there isn't a political party that wants to leave the EU that would mean they would have no one to blame for their policies.

Basically manufacturers have been lazy increasing the power draw for inefficient gains shame on them for forcing the EU to have to step in to get them moving in a greener direction. Also since we are in a common market you couldn't introduce a rule for one nation and have other nations not being regulated this would create an unfair market.

Finally a sensible post.
