i5 2500K - When Will It Die?

Be careful what you wish for, I thought I had killed my CPU a couple of weeks ago when I was experimenting with a more aggressive OC but then when I started looking at upgrade options it seemed like a lot of money to pay for not very much i.e. about £400 for a 7600K considering I'd also need a new mobo and RAM. In the old days if I was going to drop that sort of money I'd be wanting something approaching a 100% performance increase.
I have just done this as I thought my pc was ill. turns out its the psu causing issues! gutted in a way at spending £468 buying an i5 7600k, msi z270 plus, new cooler and 8gb. I hope ocuk will come through on the psu rma

I'm still running a socket 775 rig with a q9450 overclocked to about 3.2ghz. Same reasons as above. My GPU is bottle necked slightly, but I decided when I last upgraded it that it would be my last upgrade on socket 775. I have 16gb of ram as well. I don't really play the latest games.
I'm waiting to see what Ryzen does to the cpu market both in terms of brand new and second hand prices. Could be a good time to upgrade to an Intel rig second hand for a bargain whilst everyone jumps on the Kryzen bandwagon. Or...it could be a good time to buy Ryzen.
