I have an i5 4690k cpu which runs at 3.8 and when gaming on battlefield 4 im getting temps of 60-70 degrees. I tested the cpu on prime 95 and the temps went all the way up to 95-99 so i switched it off. The cooler im using is a TX3 EVO. Are my temps really high or normal for an i5 4690k undr load?

thanks

It should be a lot lower
Your temps are on the high safe ,,kinda`` for overclocking
Should be under 50 in prime 95
Download CPU ID and check the voltage the CPU is running on
Double Check the fittings on the cooler
And that you have sufficient thermal paste on the chip

In Idle my chip runs at 0.7225V Volts at 800Mhz at 27 degrees
Overclock 1.27V Volts at 4.4Ghz at 50 degrees
The cooler is a lot bigger
I have to push 1.35V Volts to get the chip at 90 degrees
But my case is suffering from heat saturation (build up of heat)
And temps are about 5 degrees higher than having side panel off

i just removed the cpu cooler and the thermal paste looks good to me. I may think about getting a new cooler. Would you say 50-60 when gaming is ok just get a bit warmer when playing bf4 all my other games run at 40-50

The first post states gaming temps as being 70-80
40-50 is a diferent thing
That is ok

The cup does not generate a lot of heat
It is just inefficient at getting read of it

It will be ok for the moment
But even the stock cooler is able to keep that clip under 80 degrees under prime
Granted is sounds awful
So you have a problem as either high voltage or the cooler is not seated correctly

Just ran a test on a 4690k on the stock cooler and made it to 78C after 5mins small ffts. I think either the retention is slack or your TIM is not properly done? Even with not so good airflow that heatsink should perform better.
