i5 or i7?

FYI

Not so much the FPS as it's 10-15% difference but look at the usage on the CPU the I7 is worked less than the I5 so can do more and in theory would server you better longer.

At the end of the day it all depends on the application of how you want to use the CPU, gaming sure either will do well.

will this debate never end! I read somewhere that 'certain' games were becoming more core dependent so went for i7 6700k, just in case. There is nothing worse than skimping on something only for it to become a problem 12 months down the line, I did it once with HD 6950 1GB, saving £30 on 2GB version... BF4 came out and I ran out of VRAM, won't make that mistake again!

in that case would the best option be x99?

skylake i7 just use the left over power from the 4 cores to drive an extra 4 threads, wouldn't 6 cores be better.
