Slower is still slower, less head room when gpu's get faster.
This. Volta will expose the weaker cpu.
Maybe, but Id take 12 cores on a much better platform any day. If you want to build a 1080p games console for over 120Hz gaming then you buy Intel.
A 7640X is probably the way to TBH.
In DX11 at 1080p maybe.
In DX11 at 1080p maybe.
Games won't make use of 12 cores for a long long time yet, it's wasted un-used money gaming on that cpu.
Yeah the Ryzen 1600 and 6700/7700k makes as much sense for gaming with a DX11 card as anything else.

Even dx12 likes a fast CPU
I left the cpu input voltage to auto and it fluctuates around 1.904-1.92v. What would be the upper limit? 1.95v?
As for overclocking the ram, doesn't it affect the bclk along with the overclock on the cpu? My ram is currently at 2400 mhz. Timing (15-15-15-35-1.2v)
Interesting benchmark that. It's almost like Nvidia have started marketing for Intel. Switch to an AMD card and the results are very different.
No the arguments you make are flawed. What's wrong with my server board? And the 290X is just about holding up, although it is due upgrading.
who spends 4k on a rig to play at 1080? surely those with 1080ti/vega and a 1k cpu like a TR/i9 would be pushing 4k resolutions?
High refresh rate gamers. I and many others would take 2k 144hz over 4k 60hz.
Ahh fair play. I think for me I would prefer 4k 60 but then put up with a little tearing at 4k in games like cs, horses for courses I guess.
