i7 920...who is still enjoying its awesomeness

Im still rocking a 930.
On a Sabertooth x58 board.

Only things are: Board doesn't have proper Sata 6gb/s. And when overclocking high the mobo gets so hot!

This sounds a bit dubious to me as Nehalem-SB was a smaller jump (clock for clock) than SB-IB, obviously with the 3770K clocked up the will be a difference, but its only reinstating the speed advantage the 3770K would have at stock, double the FPS sounds pretty impossible.

If a heavily overclocked 3770K is getting double the FPS of a heavily overclocked 920 then it should also be getting double the FPS of a stock 2600K.

in some games it comes close. skyrim 50-60 fps difference with same gpu. seen this with own eyes side by side rigs. whether people believe this or not let them not.

ive lanned with i7s i5 older i7 920 phenoms whatever. side by side same res same cards.

like said in certain games that are cpu intense like arma, wow, skyrim youll see a big difference. i7 920 @ 3.8 in arma 2 same card same ssd i have double his fps i load in half time on maps for eg. this isnt made up this is infront of me playing lol.

as said the i7 920 is decent and if i wasnt such a gamer i would stay with one for one to 2 years yet but if the games you play need cpu horsepower then its worth upgrading and youll get a decent price for your gear now.
