i7 930 temp issue

Hi guys im currently running an i7 930 at stock speed and the temps are running a little high.

my current cooler is an Corsair H50 in push/pull configuration

room temp is around 24-25c

hi and thank for your reply im just wondering if there is any way to cool it down any more is there any air cooler that would be better. the main reason I want to cool it down a bit would be so I can overclock it to around the 4GHz mark

yes the cooler is working correctly and both fans on the cooler are spinning

i have already reseated the cooler a couple of times now but still get the same temps

and I have tryed MX2 and MX3 thermal paste

yes but i seemed to get the same temps with my i7 920 but decided to get the 930 as i was going to build another i7 system anyway

i did say what i was getting idle but the link has broken i will link to another pic within a few minutes

running prime 95 now will uploaded results after about 30 - 60 minutes stressing

Keep an eye on them while its running just in case they get to high.

Do you have the H-50 connected to the right mobo header as in is it running at full speed?
Hw monitor should the you the rpms of the pump.

I have the fans at max via my fan controller and i have the pump plugged into a Molex adapter

so far stressing for just under 20 minutes

ok been stressing for 35 minutes now and no temp change

any ideas what could be wrong i have already reseated the cooler a couple of times now without any temp change

Ok next thing i would say is plug pump into the "PWR_FAN" header on mobo.
Run HWmonitor then and post a screenie plz.

pump is running at 1390 - 1400RPM

Seems to be within normal range but on my kids pc its running at 1500 on a P6t.

well just double checked and the pump is running at max

Did you run Cpuz while stressing to see what volts your running at?

just checked when under full load 1.2v

Also does your mobo need a bios flash do run your cpu properly?
I know my evga does.

ive already updated the bios

Silly question but are both fans facing the same direction (ie label on right side of each)?
As i seen seen people face the fans blowing at each other. (no offence meant)

Yes the fans are facing the correct way and none taken

the thing is tho im was getting around the same temps with a Noctua NH-U12P that's the main reason i got the Corsair h50 plus to set-up a second i7 system

Oh then its not the cooler.
How much thermal paste did you apply and did you clean old of before putting new on?

Yes i cleaned the old thermal paste off first and ive tryed a few different methods of applying the thermal paste (Pea method / Line method)

When you flashed the bios did you load defaults after it?
Either way try taking battery out of mobo for about tens mins and load defaults.

All Bios setting where set to default

If that doesn't help it must be either a dodgy cpu or mobo (unless your in the sahara or your case is a closed box )

Are you 100% sure that all the "teeth" (for lack of a better word) on the cpu cage thing are sat insdide the grooves on the H50 cpu block?

I had a problem with temps just like you are having and realised that this was the reason. But, my problems with temps was when the CPU was OC'd to 3.8ghz, not stock.

My idle temps now are 40-50 and max load is 70-75. I have been tempted to get a decent air cooler to compare. But I really can't be bothered

Running with the stock cooler @ stock settings my 930 tops out @ 73c.....

I guess this is normal?

Im running a corsair h50 not a stock cooler
