Hi Guys,

So I've been looking to build a new rig for a while and like many have waited baited breath for the launch of the 9th gen Intel CPU, however like most I had initially believed this would be around the circa £500 mark and was ready to throw my money immediately so was somewhat surprised to see it launch at £599, now the whole USD vs GBP pricing differences aside because that's already been mentioned and grievances stressed in the i9 thread, I wanted to ask a simple question..

How is it that OCUK is selling an OEM chip at £599 and the retail version at £619.99? I know our beloved OCUK has historically been slightly more expensive but seriously OEM at retail prices? I know we are all embedded within the OCUK community but how on earth do they expect people to pay OEM prices for product which can be sourced at the same price for retail value elsewhere. I'm genuinely surprised and intrigued why people would pay this.

Im actually sure i seen or imagining it that the RETAIL VERSIONS where £599
then i seen people talking about the OCUK versions coming without a box
Then i seen people saying DAM we are getting OEM`s for £599 and now i see on OCUK another instance of 9900k`s but they are £619

LMFAO this is getting out of hand im sure i seen one instance that was £599 for retail but again we britans get screwed oh well no way in hell im getting this cpu from OCUK not paying £620 for retail from here, and even the £599 versions there is no garantee they have already been cheery picked for OCUK systems before you even get them.. thats my rant.

These prices are even worse than Nvidia's money laundering sham with their Turing cards.

I mean £600 for the 9900K when the Ryzen 2700X can be had on OCUK for just £290. You'd have to be a mug to buy one right now.

Cherypicked... I wish to know where is the truth... that is only thing to hold me off to buying one now :(

Well in truth there is no way of knowing the truth. It's up to you what you believe. It's an open tray of CPU's, A golden one would fetch north of £1000. Why wouldn't they start binning them? But they swear they don't. Who do you believe it comes down to it. I'm a touch sceptical of believing a company that gouges retail 9900k's £200 above RRP... but that might just be me. Anyway. I would never buy OEM for that reason plus a few more. If you want your customers to believe you don't cherry pick the OEM trays then stop selling pre-binned CPU's. Or vice versa. Can't have your cake and eat it.

especially since 8pack said he was starting binning in another thread, id be really annoyed pre ordering a 9900k retail to be not getting it on release

I've been at events where they want to charge £3 for a can of Coke. I don't stand there and whine at anyone who'll listen, I just don't buy it.

OcUK can charge £600 for tray 9900k if they want... I won't be buying (or moaning about it). :)

So once again!

Our CPU stock arrived whether it be retail or OEM, the stock is then booked into our warehouse.

So for example we have close to 1000 Intel i9-9900k in stock.

Our SI department request 210 units which are removed from the 1000 in warehouse and will never return to warehouse.

These 210 are then tested, de-lidded by SI department and 8 Pack, der8auer and are then appropriately binned and or used for SI production.

The remaining 790 in the warehouse are left untouched and silicon lottery remains on that stock. What SI and 8 Pack takes is never returned they get used up in systems or appear as delidded and pre binned options.

That’s why customers buying the OEM product from us some get so so results and some get the so called golden chips as the silicon lottery still exist on the warehouse stock.

Sounds fair enough may be worth adding a short version to the OEM CPU shop pages? Might save reiterating OCUKs policy for on this.

Tom on this vid review doesnt think the pricing isn't too bad, because just think about what your getting, a 8core 16threads that can be overclocked on all cores to 5ghz, thats just insane. To be able to get that speed a few months ago with a 8core cpu would be in dream land. Think about the 2011 i9 cpus aswel guys?

He does my head in .

He also claims that RTX2070 is excellent product :D I used to watch his videos but now he seems bias, or many of them are just afraid to release unfavourable review as they want to continue get free stuff.
