I9 9900k

My 9900k is stable at 5ghz 1.26v but can't do 5.1ghz @ 1.3v :(
You are in the same boat as me :p, even at 1.4v then instant BSOD. Not to worry at least it is a nice round number at 5ghz.

Here is also my Cinebench run with CPU at 5.0ghz, memory at 4000mhz and cache at 4.3ghz. Will be working on ocing the memory a little if possible and taking the cache up a little more if possible over next few days when i have time. Might also see if i can get a few cores to 5.1ghz at 1.3v. See if i can get over 2200 points.

Overall very happy with the chip, very quick.

which board would you guys say is better for single gpu and 2 x 8gb mem and i9-9900k , Asus XI Gene or Asus XI Xtreme ?
The Gene is a good board, be it mATX, the Extreme is a EATX, which I am using at the moment is the Flagship XI Z390 board. So will depend on what you are going to be doing with the kit really. And the £120 difference in price of coarse.

I have the extreme at the moment but I was debating to sell it to my brother and buy the Gene , I don't like the EATX size and as I am using just 1 x EVGA 2080TI FTW3 and 2 x GB 4600Mem I thought the gene may be better for overclocking , looking on the 3dmark HOF lots of the top scores all seem to be using the Gene board . but tbh I am not sure either way

The Gene is a good overall board I must say. But the Extreme is built with overclocking in mind.

Have you tried going down the AI overclocking route, should give you a good indication of your chips capability. Have a look at this, might help.

In step 2 I would run Realbench for a minimum of 15 minutes.

Most of the HOF scores seem to have the Gene , however I am only watercooling and not using LN2 or anything so my wonder was being 1 GPU and 2 mem sticks would the gene be better suited for me
Its a choice only you can make, but like you say, you only have two sticks of ram, so a two dim slot board would be ideal. Or wait for the Apex, like I am. :)
