Ibiza as a solo 'old' person?

Why not?
My last holiday was on my own. Granted, it was very different than this.

I wouldn't worry about it due to looking out of place, unless that is important to you.

I'd go if I wanted to to! Life is too short!

Yeah you'd definitely look out of place.

I'm in my thirties and went for a few days for a stag and it just felt like you were somewhere with a load of children. It's incredible that you just seem to hit an age wall and then anyone above that age no longer goes.
Rubbish.
I’ve been to Ibiza first when I was 21 and the last time when I was 37.
37 I thought I would be out of place but Ibiza is an island of all ages where no one has no cares (other than a few stuck up people)
Me and my GF went to an Amnesia closing party where Chemical brothers played. The age range in there was fantastic, from ariund 17 - 80. Everyone was enjoying it, fantastic night

Went there in my late 30s. Mix of clubs and just chilling out. Didn't feel out of place. Made some friends, had fun and relaxed.

Not sure why you wouldn't go if you enjoy that sort of vibe.

I haven't been to Ibiza, but from friends that have gone on the last 5 or so years (early 30s here), I get the feeling you'd struggle to find really good trance and it essentially panders for the masses with House/Tech House at best, unless there's a certain artist you know is going to playing at a certain venue?

Have you considered Berlin? Super hot in the summer, cool city, lots to do during the day.

Depending on when this break is, Sziget festival in Budapest as a huge amount of trance/heavier EDM that isn't your usual chart house. Went last year for the full Monday-Tuesday and my oh my am I still recovering

Yeah what happened to me, the old boy that ran the apartment block took pity and said come drink with us. I look young feel young, but after the first night in Kavos i wanted out. Mid 30's one last blast at it was the idea, in a place that has always been synonymous with letting it go. Pity i choose a depressing dump by day, that gets no better at night until you're trashed.

I went to Kavos with a group when we were mid twenties, a couple of the other Greek party resorts early twenties. I doubt that I would have enjoyed any of those destinations at 30 let alone mid 30's!

I did manage one solo night out in Kavos when the rest of the group were too unwell to head out. Needed the business end of a medium bottle of Ouzo to get me in the mood though. From what I recall I mingled with various groups throughout the course of the evening, joined several people in a hotel swimming pool then had to return to that hotel later because I left my Ericsson T28 there.

Those were the days. I think

So many people in the thread have missed this point. Go to Ibiza, yeah. Go to Ibiza for Trance, classic trance? Not sure... There are surely better places for it but they'll be individual events - still, they should be great and also will be full of like-minded (probably same age?) people.

Any long weekend in Berlin you'll fine a trance event for every night and it'll be full of such a varied crowd rather than the 18-22 year olds taking Instagram photos constantly in Ibiza :p

Good point and I did pick up on that but forgot to mention it.

There's probably only one club that plays trance now and a couple bars in the West end, most others will be techno in some form. Some have always been house (Pacha)
Trance was big there in the 90s/early 2000s but not now. There are still dedicated events for trance 'classics' and harder nights but you need to plan ahead.

I've alwasy used Ibiza Spotlight calendar - https://www.ibiza-spotlight.com/night/events/2023/08

Cream doesnt even appear to be on at Amnesia anymore which is sad, but there's 'Shine' at Eden which is trance. I listen to random playlists on Spotify after listening to some trance or other dance music. Tale of us and CAMELPHAT would be incredible in one of the big clubs in Ibiza. They're both on my to do list

Ibiza isnt like that but imagine you're correct about Berlin. Though I thought it was way more techno that trance.

Ibiza there was someone walking around filming in Amnesia, a bouncer came over and told them sternly to stop filming. It still supposed to be no photos or recording other than professional work

Deborah De Luca played a set at the Amnesia closing we went to. Here's 10 mins of it, as you can see, some trance, some techno some classic stuff.

I'm 45 and am getting the itch to go out to a classic trance or similar event somewhere. I just missed one down at the old Opera House in Boscombe. Trouble is not sure I'd last the whole night, I'm perpetually tired due to work / young children / life. If you want to do Ibiza do it, does it really matter what anyone else thinks? Go there and enjoy the tunes! I never did do it, wish I did but it'd be tricky now as I have young family running around my feet. I'd be happy for a night out to a classic trance event or one where Thrillseekers will be playing a set.
Ironically I was actually at the Opera House on Saturday (for a non-dance gig)! First time I've been in nearly 20 years, used to go there quite a bit back when £10 (later upped to £15) got you a wristband for free drinks all night. If you want to just do a night out I'd highly recommend Rhythm of the 90s, they are a live band playing classic 90s dance, a 2hr set from them is just absolutely relentless and the fact it is live rather than a DJ really adds to the atmosphere and engagement.

Regarding the type of music I'm aware that there it would need careful planning and I might be better off going to a specialised event in the UK, however it's not purely about the specific music, just the general vibe, weather, exploring the island, holiday vibes speaking to randoms (for whatever reason it is 10x easier striking up a conversation with a Brit on holiday than a Brit in a pub back home). I do enjoy some more modern dance music too.

I count myself lucky to have done cream at amnesia back in 2007 or whenever.

Also saw camelphat a few years ago on the stag. That was incredible and made me miss the scene.
Guetta at ushuaia was a bag of crap.

:D very similar thoughts. Amnesia I first did August 2006 (Cream meets Goodgreef) still the best night of my life to this day.
David Guetta is indeed pure turd. We went to Pacha and saw him there, I think in 2014

If going to Berlin then it would be rude not to indulge in a a techno night also!

UK festivals are usually pretty friendly, maybe not holiday vibes but still good! Treat yourself to both UK and abroad!
