hi im a 2nd year uni student...doing business. and just failed my ipato test! so no ibm placement for me. i feel robbed, i should have go to and interview on my application alone it was that good, both the placement office at uni said so upon seeing my application and also the fact my application was accepted in 47 mins!!!! of being submitted. I guess its their loss though

Sorry, it's your loss - no one at IBM knows you so therefore will never know what they are "missing out" on. Perhaps, the other candidates were superior and you need to up your game a little?

Wouldn't hurt you to learn how to construct a paragraph either. I'm no grammar Nazi type, but you have started a thread in which you feel 'robbed' for failing a test.

Not really, if your original post is in anyway representative of your application or how you went about any part of the process then I'm not surprised that we didn't hire you. IBM treats the hiring of placement students with as much importance as hiring a permanent employee because that's what they see placement students as - people we want to work for us after they've graduated.

You won't get anywhere on an application alone - that could have been written by anyone. It's the Ipato test and (far) more importantly the interviews which determine who gets the offer of a placement.

Trust me mate, after 3 years of working for IBM, there is nothing on earth i would rather do less.
Its mind numbingly mundane, they treat you like a worker ant with no job security, and i am glad i no longer have to suffer the place.

Money isnt everything.

trust me my application is good, and the test is actually quite hard coupled with the time constraints there is a huge amount of pressure...but cheers fella's the support!!! i swear some people just sit on here all day waiting to have a dig at others

Only if it is presented on a plate and worthy.

I don't think its that, I think its the arrogance with which you posted. No-one 'deserves' an interview solely from a C.V...especially to these large companies where you are just 1 of 1 million cogs they can get to do their work.

On a plus side, not getting a placement job with IBM is a god-send. Of all the people I have spoken to after coming off placement this year you really do just get mundane and boring jobs. This is coming from a final year Business related degree student talking to other Business related degree students.

Saying that, mine was no better and that was for a small firm.

Thanks for sharing.

Repeat after me: "Would you like fries with that?"
