ICC Cricket World Cup ** spoilers ** [14th February – 29th March 2015]

Well, that's a new low:

Just watching the highlights, can't believe Jordon was given run out. Shocking decision that.

It was a shocking decision and to be fair he should have got the benefit of the doubt. But him running there was just silly so he can only blame himself. And it's not like it would have mattered anyway. England played awfully and didn't deserve to win.

Looks like Japan fancy their chances, and to be honest, why wouldn't they? England have been terrible for the last year or so. I've no idea where they go from here.

In situations like this, is there any formal rule or etiquette that determines whether or not they run? Or are both batsmen free to make their own decision? Could Jordan's partner legitimately stand his ground even if Jordan was already halfway down the pitch?

It was a stupid way to get run out, there is absolutely no reason to take such risks at the pointy end of a high pressure game.

There's etiquette, I don't believe there's a rule as such, more an unspoken word I'd say. Effectively it was his call but there was simply no run there, and his partner knew that, so he shouldn't have run at all. It was Jordan's mistake, plain and simple.

Well who knows what the new incoming ECB chief will do after this embarrassment. I reckon he'll want to make some big changes in the wake of all of this otherwise he's steering a sinking ship.

Ireland unlucky to be knocked out today, they played some good cricket but Pakistans win takes them through to face Australia next. WI also go through on run rate. The QFs are:

South Africa v Sri Lanka

India v Bangladesh

Australia v Pakistan

New Zealand v West Indies

Really surprised Pakistan have managed to pick themselves up after a shocking start to the tournament, didn't expect them to qualify without their main 4 bowlers. Australia will be a tough game.

Interesting quarter finals.

If SA bat first I think they will win, but it depends on which batting team turns up. They are either scoring 400+ or 150. Their bowling is weaker than expected and Sanga is in the form of his life. Should be a good match.

Cannot see Bangladesh beating India.

Pakistan's bowling is on fire, they could make life uncomfortable for Australia. But the batting is fragile for both teams. Could be another low scoring thriller. Have to say Australia will win but hope Pakistan can spring a surprise.

New Zealand is the beat team in the tourney, and the Windies should be a nice warm up for the semis.

I'm sad I missed most of the game, but waking up this morning to see that SA have knocked Sri Lanka out for 133 meant it was an awesome bowling display, and also that SA have finally shaken off the knockout monkey. Now they face either NZ or WI. Let's see who in which team turns up. If the Gayle force arrives, NZ will have a tough match. But they have McCullum so everything is to play for!

It was a strange game - whist Abbot, Morkel and Steyn bowled well, Sri Lanka completely fell apart against Duminy and Tahir. Duminy's hat-trick will haunt Sri Lanka - Matthews playing an awful mow to mid wicket, and then two batsmen playing for spin that was not there - and normally is not much there with Duminy.

Sri Lanka looked like south africa did when we played India. Overawed and afraid to play. With De Kock finally getting some runs it may well be South Africas year, but New Zealand will be a much stiffer test next week (assuming they beat WI)

Catches win matches as they say, had the first one been taken, it would have set the match up for a nice close finish but Pakistan just don't seem to learn. You just can't defend a score of 213 by dropping catches, easy win for Aus from here.
