Ice Bucket Challenge

I jump in an ice shower most saturday mornings. Getting blood pumping and loudly swearing is a good way of speeding up hangover recovery.

Might give it a bash, ice is expensive though, £1 for a kilo of frozen water?????!??!

Will soon turn the same way the 'No Makeup' challenge went for Cancer Awareness, people will be more interested in getting likes on Facebook and forgetting the idea of donating!

Pointless.

How is this 'challenge' going to make me donate any more to charity than I already do? :/

Would rather sponsor people who have trained for something or put themselves out in a for charity than purchase a bucket of ice and throw it over their head.

With hundreds of thousands of people thirsty without access to clean water, this is pretty ridiculous.

It's more about raising awareness for a particular charity (http://www.alsa.org/about-als/what-is-als.html). I certainly don't see how it does any harm, and it has obviously got a lot of attention so far so it is far from pointless. I'd imagine a lot of people are persuaded to donate when they otherwise may not have. Yes, people put far more effort into other charity related activities, but if it's all for a good cause then what's the problem?

The thirsty/clean water argument is totally irrelevant, saving a bucket of water in the UK/US is not going to provide a bucket of water to those who need it elsewhere.

I do find it funny, most of the video's I've seen are celebs doing it in the nice summer heat... wheres the challenge in that?

"oooo watch me cool off in this hot weather with some cold water"

Get them doing it in -2 :D

Made a status about it earlier basically saying what's the point? And what next; eating a lemon? I enjoyed my friend's comment:

Any exercise in self indulgence will suffice. We are the LOOK AT ME generation. The Blog**** Generation

Oh...I didnt know it was for ALS

The guys on my Facebook are doing it for Macmillan :o:confused:

Complete and utter waste of time and takes up room on my Facebook feed too!

How does this make people donate money to Charity?

Actually if you do the maths it is totally relevant.

So have you donated?
