I'm in need of some adivce as the speakers in my Saxo VTR just can't cut it at high volume. As I mainly listen to bass'y music the speakers distort fast when I turn the volume up.

Now I have parcel mounted 240w Kenwood 6x9's which have made a difference since being connected (guy I got the car off left them in) but it still needs that extra push. The amp in the boot is a 4 channel 200w amp made by Tornado  .

Now most cars I go in that have subs in the boot I feel spoil the music. The only thing you can hear is bump bump bump and I want something to top up the speakers, give a little push.

What would you recommend I do first? Uprate the front speakers or dive straight in with a sub and new amp maybe?

The HU is a Kenwood KDC-W6027

I can't see how I will improve the bass on my current 240w 6x9's Kenwoods. When I turn my HU up in volume, they seem to be the 1st to distort.

Is not enough power going to them from the amp (50w a channel). So would a new amp and front speakers fix the problem?

Does anyone know how good those FLI subs are?

My mate's got 1 in his boot and it sounds pretty decent tbh.

I just need to find out if I have a dedicated sub out on my HU. If I haven't, I can use the phono out on my amp in the boot can't I?

how do you mean power off the head unit?

the sub will need an amp as can't be driven off speaker outputs from a head unit

My HU has a dedicated "SUB OUT". So can this drive the sub?

So basically I'm going to need a new amp........

I have seen these bass tubes and they look pretty good. Getting good reviews off them too.

I forgot to mention I would be using an active sub not a passive. :p

Well I went to a local audio shop as it is pretty well known and a lot of people I know rave about it.

They £225 to fit a 12" Active Fli Sub.

That includes cabling too.............hmm, the sub's only £80.

It was a 12" Fli Sub. Nothing custom about that :p

Plus the cable pack at £35:S

The guy tried to make it sound like a difficult job (Its not an easy job you know, cables have to be laid, the sub has to be anchored)

And?

I'd rather be seen than heard tbh.

And no I don't want something that looks good enough to get my car nicked.

The Fli sub comes in it's own box anyway.

I'm not sure which route to go down.

Active or Passive Sub.

Any ideas on what sub (active) for <£150.

Also if I go down amp/sub route what would you suggest?
